I don't think I would even have a fake on me, or at least loose my life over a fake!

dewolf 11-07-2010 01:13 PM

I'd rather a Breitling over a Rolex. Rolex are like *********s, everyone has one.

Breitling

Anyone with half a brain, especially at a store that handles Rolex watches all day long, can tell a fake from the real deal in about a nano-second.

Also, if the watch went in back like he is dreaming it did, it would not return up front. They would call the police and confiscate the watch. Rolex has no sense of humor on this and seriously they would keep the watch.

Jeez I cannot believe that people like this fly for a living...

OK, first of all, you may now go and insert your face in the toilet and flush please.

Second, she bought it. Hook line and sinker, and I have no idea how long she's worked there, but they sell these watches all day long and she was very professional. This is a fake, but a very good fake.

Third, she did take the watch in back, and apparently a tech noticed the engraving on the back of the case. Apparently the tech was duped too.

Fourth, why would they call the police? There is no law against owning a fake Rolex dude- there is one against trying to SELL a fake watch as a real one [that's called fraud], but nor is there a law against walking into a jewelry shop and asking to buy a tiny screw. Again, you detail for all of us your essential stupidity.

As to your last comment...flush again please.

I'll post some pictures of this watch later tonight if I find time. The only thing that is incorrect is the glow in the dark patches for the numerals? They glow green instead of white.

Don't even get me started as to the probable events that led to your current "condition". You continue to loose verbal fights with me-

I really think that your father needed more or better condoms.

lose, not loose.

What may have contributed to her being fooled is that she would not expect fake rolex owners to even come into the store....

And a good fake, even the best fake is still nothing more than a fake....
I fully understand having a passion for nice timepieces. My guess is you are not really that passionate about them, seeing that you would even consider owning a fake.. Not that there is anything wrong with you owning and wearing a fake Rolex, even if it is "high quality"...
Me personally, I would never.

Porsche-O-Phile 11-08-2010 01:45 AM

I can't understand for the life of me why someone would want to own, much less brag about a fake Rolex. To each their own I guess, but I don't get it.

If image/appearance is really that important to you then why not go out and get a real one?

As far as respecting the craftsmanship of the producers of these things, I don't. It seems like a real waste of talent. Kind of like the person that has unbelievable skill in painting but instead of putting it into creating new works of their own, just sits around and spits out forgeries. Very unimaginative and a waste of talent, IMHO. Although to a certain extent maybe it's a case of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery...

These "fakes" have diluted a great brand to the point now where every single one out there (even the real ones) are presumed to be fakes. Pretty screwed up, isn't it?

I like decent watches. At some point I'll probably pick up a Breitling. There are a few models they have that I really like. In the meantime I'm content with one of my Citizen or Stauer models. Not Rolex quality by any means, but not bad. And authentic, not knock-off junk.

People bait you just to see you get banned. Think about what winning means Norm.
Turning up the wick isn't the only solution.

Kind of like bragging about driving a 928. ;)

What's wrong with a 928?

The fact that they don't make them anymore is probably the biggest problem.
Apparently Porsche are working on a two door version of the Panamera.

928-2 anyone?

Rednine11 11-08-2010 04:58 AM

Normy
will you post a good clear pic of your watch? I love Rolex watches. There are some very good replicas out there.

cbush 11-08-2010 05:38 AM

Must really suck to spend $15,000+ for a watch, and for all intents and purposes, it doesn't look or work that much better than a $35 copy. But of course since the only reason you would pay that is because you "appreciate the quality and craftsmanship". Of course if that was true, there would be less vitriol about people having fakes.

As to the comparison of Porsches and Honda's, that is really a poor argument. A better comparison of the real thing versus fakes is with the Shelby Cobra's. Of course some of the fakes are actually as good or almost as good as the real thing--and some are just cheap copies. There are also Shelby Cobra car clubs that would not exist without the copies. There are also some good fake 904s out there--that are screw for screw copies of the original. Never worth as much as the real thing but fun to drive. What about early 70 Ts made to look like Carrera's or RSs. Is that bad too? They sure seem popular, and no one derides them as fakes.

I am sure there is no one out there that would drive a RS copy while wearing a real Rolex and complaining about people wearing fakes.

What is this, the 5000th thread on Rolexes?

Maybe it's time to start #5001....?

A couple of the posters on this thread are waaaay too serious.

sc_rufctr 11-08-2010 06:37 AM

I don't get it myself...

I've got a real one and I worked hard for the money that paid for it.
So what's the big deal? It's a watch like any other. It tells the time and that's about it.
I don't mind what other people do. Do what makes you happy.

What bothers me is when you hear about a good replica that is supposedly as good as the real thing.

Every replica I've seen I could spot straight away (in real life)...

There are some good replicas avaidable especially if they're the more ordinary kind like full stainless steel.
That's easy to replicate but the full or partially gold watches stand out straight away.

Until you learn how to spell, I doubt that I have lost.

At least I have a Father... and a air-cooled Porsche.

I have two real ones but as I said earlier there are some very high end replicas, The best ones are the exact same size and even weight. I have seen some really nice ones that were actually pretty expensive.
For all we know Nomy may have a whole drawer full of real ones. I know a guy who has a real Sub and a high end replica sub. He wears the replica most of the time. Side by side its hard to tell the difference. But we aren't talking about a 35 dollar quarts replica either.
