Saw a whacky 356 paint job today

I think it's pretty cool. I have no idea if it's a real 356 or not. I'd lean towards "not" but who knows, stranger stuff has happened. I was getting on 59 South headed northbound at Kirby and this guy was up ahead of me.

I like it.

Real, I think it is either a B-T6 ('62ish thru end of '63 production) or a C/SC ('64-'65).

If you are offering to pay to fix the rust on mine I'll have whatever groovy paint job you want put on it (must be SFW)

If I am an 'artist' and did this would the vehicle be tax deductable?? And is that the wrap stuff or paint and clearcoat? My guess is the computer designed wrap stuff.

Couldn't copy the photo, but here's a link to the pic of Janice Joplin's cab...she owned it at the time of her death.

Janis' car saved a big argument w/ my wife. She would never ride in my 356, complaining of the gas smell. Was in LA visiting my grandma, we went to the Petersen's display "Cars and Guitars of Rock and Roll". Got to within 10 feet of Janis' car, you can smell gas. Told her "see honey, they all smell like it".

I generally assume all non-convertible, non-speedster 356s are real.... seems like all of the repros are convertibles.

Sorry, I should clarify... I was not stating that non-convertible repros don't exist, just that if I see a 356 and it's a hard top I assume it is real because the preponderance of hardtops I have seen are real.

On the flip side, I always assume any convertible or especially speedster I see is fake.

My good friend Jeffrey Jampol just took over administering JJ's estate for the purpose of marketing her name and catalogue, etc... I''ll ask him what's up with the car these days. Here is the FB page he runs for her:

Janis Joplin | Facebook

The photo on top of thread is a beautiful car, (and definitely not a replica), it looks a lot like one of a series of art-cars done by a famous Japanese painter whose name escapes me at the moment. Pretty sure there was a 356 in his series as well as a Mercedes 220se, etc...
