importing "spoons"
 

SmileWavy, hello;
i am in need of advice and know there should be some of you who can point me in the right direction.

i need to import two side by sides from Germany to California. who in the L.A. area has a FFL license and does import/customs for "spoons". we are talking double barrel hunting equipment. any leads?

Do you own them in Germany? Have them on a VBK there?

Many times its easier to go there on vacation, take a empty hard sided lockable case with you and bring them home. You are coming here to go hunting.

German SXS's?? What make are they? Old ones or new ones?

they were given to me by my father. he is the owner and they should be transfered over to me now>
these are very special to me. my first hunting trip as a child with my grandfather & dad in Michigan! i was 7 and i still hunt.

all paperwork is ready for getting them out of germany. i just don't seem to find a dealer who is willing to import and receive them for me here in LA. it was easier getting them out of Germany then in to the US. did not expect that at all.
one of them is a 12 gauge Stevenson, the other is a Damascus barreled 16 gauge. built by one the royal euro gun smiths. both are very old!

You don't need an importer in LA. Any importer in the US that holds a FFL can get them into the country, and then once they are in they can ship to any FFL.

Also, I recall reading something about how any FFL can import a couple of guns every couple of years, as long as the gun themselves aren't banned from import (think '89 AWB)

i know that, reason why i didn't expect to ask these questions. i talked to my local shop were i purchased almost every hunting tool i own, ......he declined doing it?????
but every FFL holder i have asked up until now declined as well,(3) am i missing something?

Try John Gangle aka Little Johns in Santa Ana, CA. I bought some stuff down in Aus, it went to a Customs Broker and from there he picked them up and distributed the spoons from that paticular auction as a favor to the Aus autioneer.

If either one of those spoons is pre 1898 they are antique and need NO Registration.

it seems everybody i talk to doesn't want to anything to do with importing "spoons" from europe.
what is the hassle,?:confused:

has anybody ever done it and a contact that he can share?
i always thought getting them out of europe will be hard,
anybody???
