i've installed MANY train horns in everything from big 4x4 trucks to cars........check out the K3 setup from hornblasters.com......they are truly deafening LOL
they used to have a K5 system which used 5 trumpets......
i have 2 compressor/tank/valve setups, just need to order the trumpets......a set WILL be going on my 924s, the 120lb systems are plenty loud, but the larger 150-200lb setups are where it's at.
depending on the size of the compressed air tank you install you can have anywhere from a 5-20 second blast.......good fun :D

Timely thread. Someone recently blasted their set up near me. Inside the house it sounded realistic, but there isn't a set of rails within a couple of miles.

I'd love to have a set of air horns on the company Prius. It would be its only redeeming quality.

I've seen the videos online, and occasionally I hear someone blast a set. There have been times that I'd like to have had a set or could have used a set. I think that 95% of the use of these is not for safety but is someone being a juvenile jack ass.

Yea! Mount a set on a 911 roof...almost as great aero as those HUGE rally lights mounted on the trunk lid.

Some kid (young adult) used one on my boss as he was crossing a RR track. My boss did everything he could to catch the kid. Fortunately for both of them he didn't catch them because he was going through a period in life where he was literally ready to kill someone.

Think the battery on my motorcycle has enough juice to run a set of those puppies?

There is an idiot here in town with a railroad klaxon mounted in his white late model surburban. It's either in the engine bay or underneath the vehicle so it's not visible as he drives by and there must be 3,000 white suburbans in Medford. He has great fun going through the quiet neighborhoods at blasting on the horn in the middle of the night!

Oh haha- funny funny.

I got a brick with his name on it.

Not a big fan of the train horns.
My 2 regular air horns are loud enough.
Also no a fan of the trucks (semi's) with straight pipes. When they hit the jake brake they'll
rattle your windows.

That quote is where my screen name originated. It was from the Budweiser frogs but in the same context.

It would be harder to use that power for good than for evil.

I just watched the video, wow, what's up with that hair.

But even more so, who the hell are those people? There were 3 trucks there all with ridiculous horns mounted on the roof?!?

Honestly, a shotgun full of bird shot would be a good response if they used those for anything other than a good reason (and can there be a good reason for a horn like that on a vehicle?

I used to rent commercial space from a trucking company. We found a couple of train air horns laying around, and one night after a couple of beers, we hooked them up to the air line to see what they sounded like. I was holding the horn. Holy mary mother of god, was that loud. My ears were still ringing the next morning.

You know your a Redneck when.........

You have a train horn on the roof of your truck and have made this a hobby

Your old lady wears a road kill wig you made after stunning some wildlife with
your train horn.

RoninLB 11-15-2010 01:09 AM

I'm gonna rig my horn into my jeep
I live within 1/4 mile of 10 bars in a beach town. 1/2 the people around here are loaded at night as a general rule of thumb. Summers see increased action.
