Need new sheets

Educate me on thread count. I no the higher the count the more $$$, but that does not mean better.

VINMAN 11-15-2010 06:38 AM

Flannel sheets for me!

M.D. Holloway 11-15-2010 07:12 AM

I have 800 on the bed now - Nice a cold, very nice, very soft, almost like satin but not that slippery.

Laneco 11-15-2010 07:25 AM

600 to 800 thread count cotton three seasons of the year in Oregon. There are higher thread count available, but I'm not that impressed with the cost to how great it feels ratio. Heavy flannel in the winter.

You might also really like bamboo sheets.

126coupe..yes it matters. when i was single, i was told, in order to get laid regularly, i had better get some high quality sheets, and some nice towels. great advice actually. ( make your bed, before going out on date..you never know).. drunken lesbians gave me this advice..

not only high thread count, but egyptian cotton, high count. i dont know why i know this, but egypt has the best cotton, because of the lack of rain. raindrops beat the cotton fibers down. lack of rain allows the cotton strands to be lenghty-er. the sheets feel like satin when you climb in. they last longer too, so your investment is not in vain.

you can find some great cheaper sheets at discount stores like Tuesday Mornings..i have a set of white sheets, (another lesbian tip) that are just breaking in..i love them. i think they are 800 thread count.

I have the 1500 thread count Egyptian whatever and they're AWESOME. I found them on eBay for something reasonable. Last week there was a guy with a table at my gym selling 1500 thread count for $40 a set, king or queen.

We just bought some 800 thread count. They were not cheap, but they feel like canvas (toughness) with a finish almost like satin or velvet (smooth and comfy).

I can't imagine ever having another sheet.

In the winter when it's really cold (well, cold for Houston), flannel sheets are the best.

They make cloth from Bamboo fiber these days. We had a set for our guest bed, very, VERY soft, and almost as smooth as satin, but they didn't seem to wear very well.

I've even got a pair of socks that are made from bamboo fiber.

masraum 11-15-2010 07:54 AM

I think this is what we just bought.

Funny thing here. I spent a lot of time in Egypt. Lived in Cairo for a while and know the area pretty well.

Tried while I was there to get some nice sheets and they had NONE. Seems that all the nice stuff is shipped to Europe and America and the Egyptians are left with the rest...

When I just read the title of this thread, I thought it might be Sniper's glorious return to the OT.

Carry on...

Yup. Egyptian cotton. The higher the thread count, the better. You need to go AT LEAST 600. When you do, you also get a better, longer lasting, more comfortable sheet. 1500 thread count would be very much like satin.

Costco usually has some decent sheets (800), for a good price ($60 or so). From there, you can just keep an eye out for screamin' deals on VERY high thread count sheets. If you get some 800 sheets, you will then appreciate their superiority. Cheap, standard, muslin sheets are like sleeping between two pieces of sandpaper.

Oh, and BTW, a down comforter is the only way to go. By far.

Rikao4 11-15-2010 09:05 AM

well you heard us..
if still doubtful..
grab a 400 count..
once you've removed the burrs from fingers..
touch,caress a 800 + count..
night and day diff.
they last longer & get better in time as well..

come on!!!:)

knowing about sheets was all part of the single man's strategy. having some ghetto snoopy sheets does very little at getting the women between them..at least with my face.

in college i slept in a sleeping bag!

RWebb 11-15-2010 11:05 AM

all of you should have accumulated a large collection of sheets "given" to you ("us") by ex-gfs
