Gas home water heater
I have to replace the mixer faucet in the kitchen. Problem is it's the only one in the house with no shut off between the hot water tank and the faucet.
Question is: what's the best way to drain the tank so there is no water coming out! Do I just shut of the cold to the tank & run the tap 'til it's empty? Is the burner likely to start up? etc etc. PS I hate messing with gas! |

Turn the gas to pilot (the pilot burns but will not turn on.
Shut off the cold at the entrance to the house and open the faucets above you and on the sink. Water will not run uphill.

Shouldn't it be called a cold water heater since you don't have to heat up hot water?

There should be a drain on the tank - open this and crack a faucet. The faucet will allow air in. Otherwise it will not drain.

Since he is not doing an soldering he should be able to deal with the residual water below the spout. Or open a hot faucet in the basement.

Exactly. Also why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
