I had a heart attack yesterday
Went in for a routine check up, they did an EKG, a fib (strange heart beat) sent me to the ER, apparently I had a heart attack a while back, they installed a stint 75% blockage.
I feel lucky. Time for a lifestyle change. |
Yes, funny how these reminders of mortality pop up...
Good of you to heed them. |
Congratulations on your bonus life. Use it well.
|
Damn. Yes. Keep us informed. You're not the only one who needs to make a change, so please share what you're doing and learning. And most important, let us know how you are doing.
|
Scary how you can have them and not know.
Glad you are still with us and on the mend. |
Wow. Glad you are still here to still post. I am sure your family is happy that ya went in for that check up.
Stay healthy minkoff. |
Wow!
KT |
Cool! The best thing is you didn't kick, they found the blockage and you're on your way back. It sucks you had it, but its very cool for the rest of the story.
|
how old are you?
|
WOW, I had my yearly yesterday as well, , I brough it up to him that I have been having black outs & dizzy spells more frequently, so he told me to stand up, took my blood pressure in my left arm, said it was very low, then took the pressure in my right arm, much higher:eek: You were lucky, good for you..
|
WOW! 126coupe - you may have dodged the proverbial bullet. Congratulations on a second chance that alot of people just don't get. Please take care of yourself!
Byron? What does that mean when the blood pressure is higher on one side than the other? angela |
Byron,
I hope your doc scheduled you for a CT scan? |
Way to stay on the right side of the grass, good for you. Do what they tell you, do the cardiac rehab, every day, for the rest of your life.
Byron, WTF dude, blackouts and dizziness more frequently? Get thee to a cardiologist |
Quote:
Byron, sounds like you may need a cardiolovascular specialist too. One that does hearts and peripheral arterial disease (not a vascular surgeon). |
My dad had his first heart attack at 55. After a couple of more he had bypass surgery. One of my brothers died of a heart attack nine years ago at age 47. My oldest brother, who's 66, just had some sort of surgery to correct a severe flutter that caused him to black out.
Wondering if I should request a stress test just to get a base line. |

Take care of yourself and do what the Dr says...

I had one a couple months back. I am only 41 and a non smoker. it makes you stop and think that's for sure
Glad to hear that you're ok.... |
Congrats on your new lease on life.... use it wisely.
|
Glad to hear you're OK!
My dad died at 43 from his 9th heart attack. I'm 43 and in perfect health. Even with good health I see a cardiologist once a year and get a stress test at least every 18 months. |

glad yer OTAY! dying aint no way of LIVING! my hunting peudner and close friend stroked on us at 48! he survived, but he still and quite possibly will never be the same. and he didnt smoke at all, drink excessive. all in his familys past. now heres the kicker....................my doctor amigoes were telling me that the most heart attacks they see and strokes....................are VEGETARIANS! why? because they usually eat so damn much cheese in their diets and clog the hell out of their arteries. what a hoot! the supposed healthier/smarter humanoids that eat a vegetarian diet stroke out /heart attack faster than us mere mortals who live on tacos/sub sandwiches/chicken/red meat in moderation/ veggies/ nuts/fruits/ slim on the taters, fish/shrimp/BEER(nectar of the gawds) etc. the (2) races who live the longest due to diet: the orientals...................and the MESSIKANS! whom eat a traditional diet. ie. not taco bell nor qwickie wow chow panda poo. glad to hear yer OTAY! |
Glad to hear a postive outcome with a thread title like that. Good luck.
|
Hi Mark
Sorry to hear that your feeling poorly. I'm glad you got to the doctor before things got crazy. Take care. Stay well. |

So you were symptomatic (just didn't quite know it) and didn't necessarily have a heart attack. Don't worry about thinking you're stupid. There are folks in the business of cardiovascular care who have also not recognized their own symptoms and actually had heart attacks. Now you know that for you heartburn could mean a heart problem. GL |
Glad you made it okay Coupe. I was supposed to see my cardiologist tomorrow but they want to change my appointment again.
|
Yipes! Glad you are doing okay.
|
Damn Coupe! Glad everything went okay... DO NOT make my cheesecake recipe unless it's for the grand kids or if the doc gave you some Lipitor or something...:)
|
Holy crap!!!!
I'm glad all turned out ok. |
