Another iPhone keyboard case
Another keyboard case yet for the iPhone. So if you can't live without a physical keyboard . . .

Or you could just come into the 21st century and learn to use a touchscreen.... oriented in that fashion the onscreen keys are fairly big.

I don't have an iphone, but I'm on my second Android phone with a virtual keyboard. Granted, both of my phones had physical keyboards, but I never use them. The virtual keyboards are great. What Apple really needs to do its pay Swype for their keyboard.
I've got an iPad, and I can say that the Android virtual keyboards seem to be a little better than the Apple keyboard. |
How does Swype work? I went to their website but didn't understand it.

It must be nice to have such petite fingertips that you can use a touchscreen kbd. You know what they say about guys with small hands.... SmileWavy |

With swype, you basically trace from one letter to the next. The key is that the trace doesn't have to be a straight line and the trace doesn't have to be nearly as accurate as typing one key at a time. Like, in the image below, you can see that the blue line which is the path that the finger took, traces over the letters q u i c k. http://onlygizmos.com/content/2009/11/swype.jpg It's much, much faster and easier. It's also more forgiving. With a regular virtual keyboard, it's very difficult to type in a moving car on a bumpy road. With swype, it's not a problem. |

I've had my iPhone for a few months...I still don't like typing on it all that much. But its not an entirely bad thing as I send less worthless texts than I used to. However, when I get an email for work that I need to answer on my phone, I miss my blackberry curve just a little bit. But the iPhone is miles head for in all other functions besides text entry.
I really wish the iPhone would get swype. My roomate has it on his Android phone and it is so much quicker. |

I like the iPhone onscreen keyboard fine. However, it and all other onscreen keyboards, obscure much of the screen. This can be a problem with some websites or applications, to me.

I'd be curious how well it works, the full keyboard is the only thing my Blackberry Bold did better than my iPhone 4. I would also think that battery life would suffer if you always had Bluetooth enabled.
|
I use the Dragon app and dictate my messages. Not perfect but it works.
From what I've seen on PP, not many people pay attention to spelling anymore or grammar for that matter. |
I found a bluetooth keyboard on evil-bay for $0.99 plus $14.50 shipping (ha!). It actually works very well. Next phone I am definitely going back to the regular keyboard.

Try taking a look at a site like RCuniverse, PP reads like a rocket surgeons thesis compared to that place! |
Wife just got an android, LG optimus... it is small but I didn't have much problem with the virt keyboard, but then I didn't play with it much.
On a side note, she didn't want an android... but we looked around the store and they were offering this one for free (when adding a line, we were adding her to my provider) so we went for it. We walked in with "I don't need anything fancy... just a simple phone" On the drive home she was glued to the thing. I think I have created a monster. |
