Historic Rain Soaks Gulf Coast
   Heavy rainfall dumped on parts of the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. Saturday became the second wettest day on record in Pensacola with 13.13". One rain gauge around 11 miles southwest of Pensacola recorded an amazing 21.70 inches of rain in the 24 hours ending 8 am CDT Sunday. Flash flood emergencies were declared in Alabama and Florida as the water flooded streets and trapped people in their cars and homes.

Just got a call from my wife who is in AL for her mother's funeral that they are holed up in a Walmart due to a tornado in St. Clair County (just east of Birmingham).
Waiting for her call to say they are safe. |
