Who was recently looking for a cool gadget watch?
How 'bout this one? Not usually much into gadgets, but I think I want one of these. :)

Cool

Weird...but a nerd's delight?
|
It looks pretty cool, but it sure is big on the wrist!
(Irony alert, the new nano is so small that it's really easy to lose!) |

Coming from the age of 8 tracks, it still amazes me to realize that such a small gadget holds (currently) over 1700 songs. Amazing stuff! |
Very cool.
I don't know anything about iPod nanos. Are there calculator or other apps that would be useful on a watch, that you can load on the nano? |
i'm still waiting for this one.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1290191362.jpg

I never use the radio or video feature. Usually, I just plug it into the Mustang's line input with a gadget the apple sales girl suggested, set it to "shuffle play", and hit the road. The plug in device plus into the ipod, the line feed in the Mustang's console, and the 12V receptacle also in the console. This keeps the ipod charged as I drive & play. All hidden in the console, out of sight. Gotta confess, when/if I shop cars again, a way to plug in the ipod would be a must feature. |

It's pretty big, but the wrist in the video also looks kinda "slight"? Maybe a woman's wrist? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1290198517.jpg I like big (round) pilot style watches and have two that are 50mm dia. However I am big-boned: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1290198993.jpg If I decide to drop $70 on the Luna Tik when they're out, I fully expect it to be as problematic for me as every computer I've ever had (I'm jinxed). |
Hmm. If the nano can have Bluetooth earbuds or headphones, the music features would be useful. I can't see having a cord dragging from my wrist. Is there an internal speaker for the alarm/timer? Thinking hard about this
|
Crap.... There goes $150....
|
The nano measures like 37.5mm by 40.9mm... Thats not that big really... Its a shame that the little nanos are as open to the app store as the touch.
Still a very cool little gadget.... I'm going to order one of the backer series..... |
Sold, I'm on board
|
I think one of the problems is that won't stay on watch mode... when it goes to sleep it's always back on the same initial screen so to read the time you will have to scroll 3-4 times then click on the clock... So unless apple changes that it will be very inconvenient, I imagine that cuteness will be annoying in a week..
|
Did you watch the video? You can configure it so when you hit the button it shows the watch screen first.....

Last I heard was that it was not configurable but probably a new firmware fixed that! Either way is super cool but I rather have a watch on my wrist. I've had those gadget watches in the past and are just fine until you realize its kind of ridiculous.. (I had the Microsoft Fossil with hotmail and MS Exchange connection). |
I know its pointless... I still think its cool....
|
I thought you liked exposed mechanisms. ;)
A watch for watch and a mp3 player for music... Mixing it all together is nothing but compromises IMO. |
A bit too nerdy for me, brings to mind pocket protectors et al. Nothing like the elegance of the standard watch. Really, it does a very good job at what it was designed for.
