Old photo site

Just stumbled onto this site; thousands of old hi res photos, pretty cool:

Shorpy Historic Photo Archive | Vintage Fine Art Prints

April 1865. "Cold Harbor, Va. Collecting bones of soldiers killed in the battle." Photograph from the main Eastern theater of war, Grant's Wilderness Campaign, May-June 1864. Wet plate glass negative by John Reekie

Fun. So cool to look at the hi res versions. Love the beach shots. Thanks for the link.

That link has been posted before. It's very cool. Some/most of those photos can be viewed in their hi-res mode which means you can really zoom in on stuff and see detail. Some of the architecture and small details are really amazing. It's like going back in history.

Yep. High res, but small, sq. inch wise. Here's specs on the full pic and a zoom on the car's steering wheel:

Thanks for post this - it's a very cool site! Many of the photos are "large format" 8x10" glass plate negatives which is why the detail is so good.
