If you worked for the TSA . .

. .would you tell anyone?

Or would you rather just tell people you work at the airport, but are just the guy who empties the jet toilets?

Geeze . .what a sucky job. ...I mean, being a TSA agent.

Embraer 11-21-2010 05:26 PM

TSA agent would be a good job. TSA "transportation security officer" would be a sucky job. ...these are the screeners.

most TSO's that i've talked to hate their job. for them, it's simply an "in" to federal service. most hope to be doing something else soon, so they don't care about the job. a lot of them are bitter, and hate going to work.

cgarr 11-21-2010 05:27 PM

I would set around doing my pompous pipe-smoking impressions!

legion 11-21-2010 05:35 PM

I have a high school diploma, so the whole scenario seems unlikely.

Rick Lee 11-21-2010 05:39 PM

I feel sorry for them. I fly a lot and I try to be very respectful toward people with sheety jobs. I've had plenty such jobs myself, but I was a lot younger than most of those TSA screeners. I try hard to not be the azzhoole that someone remembers after their shift. Don't get me wrong. I still hate everyone in general and don't like being around unwashed masses. But I still try to be nice to the folks with bad jobs.

widgeon13 11-21-2010 06:15 PM

It's the kind of job that a robot would be good for, groping and feeling people up but w/o the human emotion. People would probably accept that as the robot could have no memory.

Personally, I agree with Rl, I try to be sensitive to some of the folks that are less fortunate especially if they are trying to be professional about what they are doing and polite and respectful, unfortunately, that trait is much less common today.

I wouldn't want to be a TSA inspector?/groper/pervert or whatever they are called. I'd be wearing rubber gloves that went to the shoulder if I was, what a disgusting job.

vash 11-21-2010 06:26 PM

i know a TSA guy...cool enough guy.

it's an honest living.

dipso 11-21-2010 06:32 PM

TSA is the frontline on Homeland Security. It is interesting to see the responses from the usual patriots. All of you don't like it.
So, from an outsiders perspective, you are all gungho about nonsense in foreign countries. But don't respect the people who keep you safe.
Such a bunch of poseurs.

You fake patriots should be the first ones lining up to drop your panties for homeland security.
That's funny.
Under Bush you were willing to go through a strip search and private eavesdropping. You didn't even mind when he tapped your phone or computer. But under Obama you won't stand for it!

You are such a fake group of anti american astroturf teabaggers.
Kooks. all of you.
If any one of you ******s got in my way while I was trying to go through the mess you created. I would say " Get back you homo and let me go through security without you eyeballing me, you homo".

Isn't America great.

Gogar 11-21-2010 06:37 PM

Sorry, Dip. We didn't know you work at TSA.

kimlangley7 11-21-2010 06:52 PM

"dip"... how appropriate

DanielDudley 11-21-2010 06:56 PM

Well, you can take the Posters out of PARF, but you can't take the PARF out of the posters, can you ?

audiman08 11-21-2010 07:02 PM

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there are worse jobs in the world and if one stays in the TSA long enough, they can perhaps work their way up to a Federal Security Director (FSD) position. FSDs are in charge of all TSA employees at a given airport and make about $100k a year. Plus, federal employees get great benefits.

masraum 11-21-2010 07:23 PM

Wow, what a ridiculous, offensive post. You seem so much smarter now.

Besides the poster of this thread who thinks the job would suck, no one else is saying anything bad about it.

Not getting enough attention on the PARF? I think you feed off of negative energy like that flashlight glare life form on the original Star Trek. They drove that off with good thoughts.

Have a nice day!SmileWavy

It's been about 1 1/2 years since I've flown, but prior to that, I was flying weekly for a year. Never had a problem with any of the TSAs.

ErVikingo 11-22-2010 04:54 AM

The problem is not the TSA employees, its the higher ups that make the rules/procedures.

I'm sure they would prefer not to touch passenger's "junk" and stick to looking at screens and readouts from machines while screaming "please remove your shoes, laptops must go on a tray, ...."

Joeaksa 11-22-2010 05:10 AM

My niece worked for them for about a year. After that amount of time she just quit, saying that its a job for morons and robots... and she is a nice kid.

widgeon13 11-22-2010 05:13 AM

I wonder what the sick out rate is for TSA, having to be close to that many people all day. I actually feel sorry for them.

So some old man goes to the bathroom and pees on his pants and the TSA guy has to grope him right after he comes out of the bathroom and goes in to the security check line, now that's a real pleasant scenario. Then the TSA guy comes over and gropes you as you go through the line, heaven knows what kind of bugs have been transmitted. They certainly don't change rubber gloves for every groping.

Let your mind wonder, the opportunities for contamination and spread of disease are endless.

Enjoy your holiday travel.

cgarr 11-22-2010 06:17 AM

Hit the local Taco bell just before the pat down!

Can you request a glove change?

Exactly!

I just recently took a trip and on the way back I asked the frisker; 'you must hate the bureaucrats for these new pat-down procedures, huh?' His, pause and silence said it all. Then I thought, this (young) TSA guy, he must hate having to feel-up SO MANY people, and not get paid even one tenth of what a similar profession would make. (Doctor, gay man-whore . ..)

TSA new motto:

We've handled more balls than Barney Frank

cairns 11-22-2010 09:07 AM

Like Rick I try to be as nice to them as possible. They're just doing their job. I'm sure they want to get me through that line just as quickly as I do.

After all, you don't blame the McDonald's clerk for the company policy that ruined their french fries. Unless you're Dipso.

M.D. Holloway 11-22-2010 04:41 PM

Went through the airport today. Didn't get the pat down or the the full body x-ray. As I was gathering my pack and shoes I said to the supe and an agent "I know you guys get a ration of crap but I just want to thank you for your service." They both looked at me like I gave them each a C note. With mouths agap, the supe says "Wow! Thank you sir!"

Next time you get frisked by someone who is just doing their job to get a paycheck think to your self "all but for the grace of God go I..."

Aurel 11-22-2010 04:46 PM

I'd say I work for the T&A agency, and I spend my days groping boobs and crotches.

No, seriously, I would shot a bullet in my head.

No, very seriously I would never ever consider such a job. There is always a choice to do something else.

island911 11-22-2010 05:07 PM

Oh geez . ..now the TSA agents are crying that they are victims in all of this.

TSA workers face verbal abuse from travelers - todaytravel - TODAYshow.com

Another said: “Being a TSO means often being verbally abused. You let the comments roll off and check the next person; however, when a woman refuses the scanner then comes to me and tells me that she feels like I am molesting her; that is beyond verbal abuse.”
Too funny. Apparently the TSO (the one actually feeling-up the woman) is claiming to be the victim. ...and doesn't understand that the word "molest" means 'to bother.' ...although, the woman likely meant it as sexual molest.

Anyway, as if groping is less offensive than the 'verbal abuse" of saying "hey, you're groping me."
