Just downloaded and watched it (finalgear.com). I have to say, it was not as bad as I expected, and certainly better than the Australian version (which I think is absolutely terrible).

No, it wasn't as good as Top Gear UK, not even close. But it is hard to compete with a chemistry that has taken many many years to build, and some big personalities.

TG America really should not try to simply copy the UK original, but should try and come up with their own identity. These guys have a better chance than the Aussie trio, in my opinion.

I will watch the first 3 episodes and give them a chance to improve!

Yeah, it's got lots of room to improve. If we (i.e. car nuts) don't watch, no one will and it will certainly get canceled before it has a chance to get good.

I plan to watch it.
+1

Thanks for the finalgear link, Wolfe.

While it wasn't great, it was better than I expected.
Tanner as a host wasn't bad, the fat guy was tolerable, and Adam Ferrara was just horrendous. It looked like he was reading lines and doing a poor job of it.
I don't think Jay Leno would have been any better, he definitely skews to too old of an audience and while he certainly knows automobiles, he's not exactly funny.

They were smart enough to use the shooting/editing style of the BBC version, I'll give it a chance to develop, but I'm not holding my breath.

Guys,
this isn't the first British to American "translation" that has failed. Sure we want it to succeed: I am tired of that other channel that seems to only favor "turn left.... turn left again" programming

Maybe they will get it together- the focus should not be on the driving skills. We know already- he's good.

The thing that struck me most is that they make it seem like they are the originators of the concept. I certainly think that credit should be given to Jeremy, James, and Richard.
Was he the one driving the Viper who pulled the 360 spin and kept going, yea, he does as that was well done , very smooth and impressive..

You're not alone...I'm thinking it's not just anti domestic car elitism that resides on this board.

To think, I almost didn't watch because of the negative reviews here. Glad I decided to.

I thought the segment with the bulls sucked too.... They could all be driving GT2s for all I care.... They weren't that funny, and too many of the bits were blatant rip offs of the UK version...

Well, nobody is forcing you to watch. Why don't you write a letter, telling them they need to do a segment on 944's?

Its not about the cars they used Paul... Get that through your thick old skull.... The show just sucked.... Clarkson can do a bit about a Reliant Robin or and Isetta and it is worth watching again.

This show just really wasn't.....

Like I said, who is forcing you to watch? So, are you going to watch again next week, so you can cry and moan some more? Damn...I hope you get a high paying job soon, while you still know everything.

It wasn't the cars to me either...it was the show...

Will I watch next week? TBD - depends on whether I think the first was a fluke. It's possible they will get funny and exciting soon after they read the masses of poor reviews (we're not the only people/forum). Unless its already taped?....

Pretty sure most of the episodes have already been taped.

The show aside, I have never seen more anti-domestic vehicle hate/snobbery anywhere else, then I do on this board. Yeah, yeah, I know its a Eurocar forum, but some of the guys on here are ridiculous.

I watched the show because I am a car guy. If they don't ever feature a Porsche it's not a big deal although I suspect they will at some point.

Unlike Motorweek, the premise is to appeal to car people and have fun instead of just reviewing new cars.

I like Hot Rod TV, 2 guys garage My classic car and Trucks!, too. So sue me!!
