I'm doing ok though....How about you?

I blew my knee out and have been off work since September, been scheduled for surgery hopefully at the first of the year, probably not back to work until February so money is pretty tight been having to tap into savings to get by.
Wive's work just told her she is losing her bilingual bonus the end of December, my poor
P-car has been DOA with an over revved motor since March, no funds for the repair. Will have to get on bended knee to the wife in hopes of using some savings for the engine work. -_-
However....my house is filled with three great kids that drive me crazy and luckily they are healthy to do so, I've been married to my wife for almost 20 years and I love her very much, she probably just tolerates me, my kids have grown with both parents in the house.
My Dad is coming down for Christmas, last year he was in ICU and almost died, H1N1 and pneumonia, plus we have a beautiful 4 month old Chocolate Labrador that brings a smile to my face whenever I see him.
Times are a little tough right now but this too shall pass....all things yield to human persistence.
Hoping you all are doing well, if time are tough for you too, you are not alone we will get through it.
Wishing you all a great holiday season!!!:D

Bad times DO pass...I know this from experience. The good attitude on your part
will see you through.

Happy thanksgiving.

The bad times make the good times even more sweet. It forms a frame of reference.

Good luck on your surgery.

Sorry to hear the bad news but it sounds as if you have a loving family beside/behind you.

Hang in there and enjoy the goods times that you can.

You're short on money for another few months, and that is hard, but you're long on time, and that is precious. Can you use the time to do things with the kids - show a boy how to build a balsa plane or a R/C sailboat, that kind of thing? Or something for your wife, a project she's really wanted you to do - repaint rooms, put up trim, whatever? I don't know how mobile or handy you are but anyways that would be the general idea.

You can take the motor apart for free, clean and bag everything. That's good therapy.

Sorry to hear about your Knee, been there blown my own MCL out...........till you lose a knee, you don't appreciate it.......can't squat, can't get in/out of a car, full leg braces suck.

Everyone count your blessings.

Any time you're feeling low or depressed or "woe is me", just go visit an emergency room, or have your health fail suddenly, or get in a head on wreck with a 70 year old lady (in a rare and exotic baby blue ford taurus wagon) She going the wrong way down a one way road.....totalling your 911.......ambulance ride, major body trama, and fooking up you and your wifes health for the rest of our lives........

We love them, and cherish them, but they're just cars, mine died so we could live. :( It's amazing the amount of energy my '82 SC absorbed after the lady pushed us 40 feet backwards after impact her flooring the gas freaked out when her airbag went off.........

I honestly try to keep my glass half full, not have empty. But you have to have the low spots, to appreciate the good blessed day we all have.........

Cheers to all, take a moment to enjoy the rays of sunshine in all our lives and those around us........

Dave,
Sorry about the accident I hope all turns out ok for you and your wife.

glewis80SC 11-24-2010 05:39 PM

Thanks to all for the kind words, I know it could be A LOT worse, my family is healthy and that is what matters the most.
The rebuild will be a great project for me and the two boys, my 11yo daughter and I have never been closer, take her and pick her up from school everyday, soccer practice and I made it to every game...I was even the team parent!!!! Lots of great father/son time with the 16y boy too, the wife even likes me home every night... especially because dinner is always ready.
Thanks again, truly have a great Thanksgiving.....I'm smoking the turkey tomorrow!!!

Father got pneumonia which triggered off his dementia. After a week in the hospital seeing dogs runnings around in the corner, he began remembering who I was. It gives you a different perspective on life when you change your father's diapers.

Mother blew out her other knee after a slip-fall at night. She was just recovering from shoulder surgery complicated by a fall off the operating table, and a rebreak due to lack of follow up communication between the doc/p.t.

Uncle is now recovering from double hernia and complications from a bad urostomy connection following cancer.

It has not been an easy couple of months for our family.
I'm glad everyone is still here. Have to bend with the wind.
