Hanging a spoon on the wall, how to?

I have an old WWII rifle that I would like to hang on the wall for decoration.

My first thought is to go to home depot and get some big a$$ hooks and screw them into the wall.

Is there some more refined way of doing this since it will be in my living room?

Thanks much!

Lots of options. You can buy a felt-back case with a glass top and use fishing line to mount the rifle inside. And they make decorative wall mounts for rifles. My dad had a real 1866 Winchester hanging on the wall for many years. They're basically two brass U-shaped holders. The glass case option might be better for discouraging curious hands from touching.

Two things to consider

1) Remove firing pin - if it gets stolen, it will be less useful, at first
2) Can you see it from outside the house? Will it be up when repair people (plumber, carpenter, carpet cleaner, electrician, appliance repair person) come in? Be mindful if you are hanging that up, you are advertising you probably have more, elsewhere, and may be a good burglary target.

You could make a wooden backer plate (stained, or painted), with a little label, and then have it rest on a shelf, with the backer plate, like an L, and could come up with a bunch of ways to attach the plate to the wall. All out of wood, of course.

Use spent 30-06 brass instead, just cut off at the case shoulder

One is a single-shot that won't be much use in a hurry, the other is an antique with a pitted barrel. The third gun is a musket.

I have other shotguns...
