Exporting a NEW vehicle to Austria. Anyone done it?
Anyone have experience with this?
I just got a request to find a new Dodge truck on a dealer lot and arrange it so a friend of a friend can buy it and ship it to Austria. Any quick and dirty tips to get this done? Customs broker? Owner lives in Austria... |
Why? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to go to Germany and buy one off an American soldier?

Should I suggest that? It's the fake GF's family member in Austria- she was instructed to go and figure this out. Is that how it's done? |
Depends on Austrian law...Evren once told me to keep "junk" out of Turkey, the law is that a car must be either new or old enough to be "collectable" to be shipped in. No fairly new but used cars allowed.

I don't know if you can buy trucks through the PX at US bases in Germany. It's usually our soldiers wanting to buy German cars and bring them home. There are US bases in Bavaria, which is not far, depending on where in Austria they live. Ditto for US bases in Italy. There must be a way to buy a nearly new truck from a US soldier there where everybody makes out well. I didn't see many American trucks while there recently. But there were plenty of American SUV's. I even got one as a rental (which I didn't want). Man, I would hate to have to park a pickup truck in any European underground parking garage. I was positive I was gonna get stuck a few times in our Ford Kuga, which was a small one.

wondering about warranty- better to buy an export used truck and retain warranty VS new, shipping it out of USA and voiding warranty?

I thought it was funny that the German guy stated he wanted the Bullitt for it's exclusivity because Porsches, BMW's, and Mercedes was so common there, and that he gets many favorable comments & looks when in the Mustang. Must be a "grass is always greener" thing. |
