Dyno Fail
|
Dude!
|
That was followed by a "good news/bad news phone call."
The good news; It's making power. The bad news; Do you know a good body shop? angela |
Was the nose even tied down?
|
I swear I heard someone say "DOH!" in the background.
Nice job, guys!! |
There is a wonderful new invention. It is called a tiedown strap. :D
Azzwipes..... |
Whoopsie.
Looks like they were using a couple of motorcycle tie downs to hold it:rolleyes: |
Thats one reason we mounted our dyno in the floor, the rollers are almost flush with the surface of the floor.
dyno in the floor |
Idiots.
I would only run on a floor dyno and the main reason is my car can spin the tires on a dyno. It's a bit scary to be standing next to your car and see it start to step out. Of course proper tie down location will limit it to only a couple inches. |
lucky for them it went left..

No tie downs up front and motorcycle straps in the rear? An accident waiting to happen.
I've seen cars strapped down through the car doors. Don't trust that method either. |
Gotta strap that puppy down!!!! Amateurs!
|
No front tie down, all wheel drive car.... I think what they experienced was the front torque steering itself off. Idiots.
|
Didn't strap the front down. Stupid.
Wonder if the operator bumped the steering wheel or it was torque steer... |
I thought it was torque-steer induced as well. However, doesn't the EVO, normally a good driving car, have equal-length front drive axles?
Sherwood |
Being its a four wheel drive car, both ends should be secured.. Think of the way the wheels are acting on the rollers...
Looks like the straps stretched a bit then the car got loose on the dyno.. When doing dyno pulls.... one strives to not touch the steering wheel... We don't have a four wheel drive dyno...yet we secure the cars that we test more securely.. |
Another dyno fail except it is fire! Operator loads up motor way too violently.
|
It's a college in Puerto Rico, guess that's what you get for free dyno time and student operators.

I looks like the rear tie down straps are connected to a single point, which is also not a good idea, nevermind that it seems there are no front tie downs at all.
Yikes. -Z |
