Dang, Byron, that was cool! I wish I had known that was going on. Would have taken a road trip with our son!

I remember BMX starting in 1978, when the kid across the street got a BMX bike for his birthday.

I had a 24-inch frame 10 speed bike at the time and I could hit 42 mph on level ground for a short distance. I've never been interested in dirt-

N!

ba humbug

where were you in 62 when we started bolting apehangers on 20 inchers
and racing on the golf course at night
just us kids no adults no rules

1970 may mark the start of the commercial organized BMX
but the sport is far older then that

kind of sad and far out that our kid sports [ surfing skateboards, and BMX ]
all became so commercial Tv sports

Thanks for posting Byron..... The video brought back warm memories of building ramps and jumping over my little brother on my Sting Ray and later years riding with my buddies. When I was about 14 I built a dolly type tow behind trailer to haul our BMX bikes behind my XR75 to a buddies house a few miles away. We would stay up all night on Friday nights working on our bikes and racing around in his dad's pole barn. One night we built a big ramp in the middle of the building, doused it with gasoline and I lit it just prior to my buddy hitting it..... melted a bunch of hair as he went through it. While we never participated in sanctioned racing, we had a blast on those bikes!

So many memories. I would read BMX Action cover to cover; lived and breathed BMX from 1984 to 1987. Thanks for posting this.
