Prairie Home Companion
Thinking of surprising my wife with tickets to a live show, which will include an overnight stay and plane tickets, etc; She loves the show. Anyone ever attend? Opinions?

Garrison Keilor is a great storyteller, and seeing him live shows what an artist he and his crew really are. That said, I can't stand it. But my parents LOVE it, and have gone to dozens of shows, been invited to play with his 'band', even went on a cruise (or two?) with them.
Where are you seeing them? |

I started listening to the show 24 years ago. About 10 years ago I went to a taping and it was even better than the radio show.
If she loves the radio show she will be crazy about the live taping. |

We live in NYS and really wanted to catch the show in NYC this month but that is not going to work, so fly to St. Paul and see the show sometime in January!

My wife and I listened to the show faithfully for about 10 years in the 1980s. Never saw one live but I think that a personalized gift is far more valuable than something that is expensive. It shows thought instead of just throwing money at it. I think you will make a memory that will last a lifetime. Some of my wife and my best memories are once in a lifetime events. Sometimes it went poorly but its still memorable how we got through it and we laugh about it.
If she loves PHC then go for it and don't forget the Powdermilk Biscuits! "Where all the women are strong, all the men good looking, and all the kids are above average"

I can't imagine crossing the street to see Garrison Keillor let alone flying to Minnesota in January. I once sat 4 feet from him in a gate area at the Minneapolis - St. Paul airport. I had to leave.
