WTF you mean, "alleged" abductor?

Cliff's notes: Guy offs GF, makes off with kid from Salem, VA to Frisco. They were running it on CNN, lady in grocery store spots them. What a world.

No trial & conviction...therefore "alleged".

Porsche-O-Phile 12-10-2010 11:09 PM

Innocent until proven guilty. A media outlet not using the qualifier "alleged" could be seen as tainting a potential jury pool or any one of a number of other things.

Yup....the press can't try them so they have to say "alleged." Even if caught in the act and/or everyone saw it. Look back at some newspapers from 2001 when they referred to the 9/11 hijackers.

I think the media learned after the Atlanta Olympic attempted bombing when they all pointed their fingers at that security guard who it turned out didn't do it. I think he got lots of money from CNN and others. Richard Jewell?

Because theres a chance that she was involved with the guy & went willingly. Also possible she was involved in her mothers death.

I agree, just because something seems obvious doesn't mean a journalist can risk a lawsuit against their employer...not to mention this country prides itself on allowing accused persons the right to a fair trial.
