Running 32-bit apps on Win7 64-bit
I am trying to run a pro audio mastering package on Windows 7 64-bit. I ran it on my old XP SP3 machine just fine. I tried running as administrator, and in compatibility mode, but no luck. I launch the .exe and it bombs out without any messages. The software is Samplitude 6.0, and runs fine on 32-bit machines. Any ideas on how to run it in Win7 64-bit? The latest upgrade is about $350 and I don't need it that bad.

Win7 64 runs 32bit software and 64bit software.
Are you trying to install it to ' C:Program Files ' instead of the correct folder ' C:Program Files (x86) ' ? Generally, by default, most 32bit software will install to the correct 32bit program folder (x86). I have ran into a couple of pieces of software that are not Win7 compatible. When that happens, your best route is to install a virtual machine and run XP. Win7 Professional and Ultimate include XP Mode which is a free virtual machine. Sun Virtualbox is also free if you have your own copy of XP to install virtually.
