Albert King with SRV...

Got a call from a buddy last night..."turn your TV over to PBS!". They were doing a fundraiser and were showing an Albert King (my second fav of the "Three Kings...Freddie, Albert, then BB for me) with Stevie Ray Vaughan session from back in '83 (my last year of college, and the summer I discovered SRV). I'd never seen this before...heads up blues fans! For SRV fans, imo, it's not as good as the "Live at the El Mocambo" DVD (maybe the best live performance I've seen captured on video with great sound too.) but it's still classic. Although I've got a lot of AK's cds, I haven't seen much live video. One regret...No "Double Trouble" and SRV without Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton behind him is missing something :).

The Matchbox Blues number is one if the my Blues favorite of all time. Well worth getting the CD

??? ...straight over my head pavulon, maybe I need more coffee :). Bill, they did a nice version of "Matchbox Blues". Most of my AK stuff are his legendary live shows from the 60s/early 70s (Filmore shows, etc.) when he was influencing Jimi and the like. He's SO unorthodox though (southpaw playing a righty axe upside down) I don't see how, but he was a trailblazer for the blues/rock genre...

Saw it. Very good. You can see who Stevie got his primary influence from.

I just can't picture Albert riding one of those.

Well, I am right now with a chuckle. No wonder I didn't get the connection...never had the pleasure, and I'd likely kill myself on one of those :)
