The perils of rubber necking
Yesterday about 4:30 pm I was driving up the street. Traffic was light but I could see some commotion in the traffic lanes ahead. A woman was darting across the street at mid block from the opposite side I was on. There were two cars in the travel lane I was in so I had to change lanes to my left to get past them. Wondering what the commotion was I glanced between the two cars. There was a kid laying in the street, almost under a parked car curbside. Looked to be a young boy, pre teen perhaps. He wasn't moving and there was a huge stream of blood from his head flowing towards the curb. Although there were several people near him, no one was actually next to him as though they might have been rendering aid. I noticed a couple people on cell phones so I'm sure help was being sought. I continued on my way truely sorry I had seen that.
The street was closed off as late as 8:30 last night and had investigaters there so I'm thinking it was not a good outcome for the kid. Makes me want to hug my kid just a little bit longer next time.

Terrible things happen on a constant basis worldwide. It always sucks to be in the exact place at the time when one of them is happening. Sorry for the people affected.
