Man if I don't score a coupla times every month I start to Jones...I gotta have it, I gotta buy a Spoon.....It is gettin real bad...this past weekend I was watchin an auction and I saw this real clean Colt 1911, it was at $1200 by a guy who I frequently bid against...I think he is a Dealer..I thought man is that cheap or what, I am gona hit it once cause that is just tooo cheap to let it go at that...so I went $1250 and guess what I got it....Whoa...this was a pure impulse buy...

With the freight to my house it will come to $1500, cause the auctioneers have to have their vigorish...yet if that Spoon is as clean as I think it is, it is worth a whole bunch more than I paid for it?

Anyway it is a Colt 1911 Commercial built in 1919 by SN.

Jeffy U should see what I am jonesin for in the next coupla weeks...and on these I am serious about puttin the hammer down on em.

If it's worth a "whole bunch more then what I paid for it". Then why didn't it sell for a "whole bunch more"? Maybe you got a good deal, but then again, the seller made lot's of money. I love it when people say that, because if it's worth more, why didn't it go for more? "Spain me' the difference.

I alredy indicated on another Post in another Thread that I was askin that very same question...Is this too good to be true??? an why did it go for so cheap? I more or lessknow from talkin to the auctioneer about it that it ain't gona be a pile.

The weekend before last I scored a Belgium Browning Hard chrome made in 82 HP..I thought the the same thing when it went cheap...and after receiving it, it is as good as it looked..and it even came with a plastic Browning hardcase box...(see pics on the "Just For Pwd" Thread).

Could be because just before Christmas the Spoon market traditionally gets a bit soft, it could be that these two items fell through the cracks..audiences do get tired late in auctions. Some things are HOT in a Region and some are not, maybe 1911's have gotten a bit soft in the market The condition warrants the price? Pick a reason?

I think collectables markets in general are soft. Pool cues as well as spoons..prices are falling. How low will they go? Who knows?

Since I tend to be a "user" over going for collectability, I have all I need...spoons and cues.

But if ya wish to branch out, Tabby...this would make a fine conversation piece in any pool hall.

PWD...I have watched the Spoons market very closely over the past 5 years. Every Time I think it is getting soft an auction comes along that proves me wrong. As with all collectibles certain things are in flavor and certain things are not within a genre. If prices are not escalating they are holding their own across the board.

Assault weapons have had a noticeable decline after their run up in late 08 to the spring of 09. The market was saturated at that time, so it is a reasonable expectation that that market would become soft as it is oversold. However M1 Garands, Carbines, Winchester 42's, S&W 686's have continued to plow ahead in price.

I was expecting to see a picture of a cowbell.

So much for Stumpfgolfs notions....The one I purchased was made in Belgium which commands a premium over the ones that are assembled in Portugal. The ones assembled in Portugal are every bit as good as those completely made in Belgium, but the market place gives a bump to the Belgium ones.

yeah yeah NIB unfired, i know that drill. but what about these older models,that have been fired. any loss on them $ wise, if ya fire a few fer giggles?
