very cool! bumped the wall at 1:21. and judging by the marks, took more than one take. the part I liked best was him standing on the banking at the end doing push-offs.

Mr Block is a Yank, from Cali I think.

That little Ford has about as much in common with one you could buy here as Rosie O'Donnell has in common with Carmen Electra. If they sold the Focus RS here I would go buy one. About the only new Ford that interests me at all.

He can do a lot on pavement, but not apparently in true rallying - at least so far. Maybe it's lack of familiarity with the circuits? or dirt itself? Would like to see him do better than this year in WRC.

Actually, met the father of the shop owner that used to prepare his cars in the the states for GymKhana

I think Kaos said it correctly.
Block is a figure skater.
Good for exhibitions and online videos that afford multiple takes, but not so good in an actualy rally.

Yes I know he is not in actuality a figure skater, but what he does is no different.
Puts on a show, nothing more.

Oh now wait a minute guys, in fairness to Ken Block, remember that WRC is chock full of beyond category drivers, and each one of them is absolutely DETERMINED to win! Block has hooked up with the right sponsors to show his talents, but these are not unique talents, they are shared with every other rally driver out there. We just SEE Ken Block all the time due to his endorsement deals. His deals keep him very exposed in this country with short attention span tire-smoking clips that SELL STUFF (e.g. Monster, DC Shoes, etc). He is directed to slide, spin, etc., for the camera and it's corresponding MTV generation audience. He is paid very well for this skill set.

Not really fair to categorize him as a "figure skater" just because that's the almost exclusive exposure in this country. This dude can drive. Does he win every rally? Good heavens no. Those other guys who can also drive see to that.

Frankly, pro rally drivers are the best drivers in the world. Period. Dirt, mud, sand, gravel, grass, heck, these guys can drive on AIR.
