Awesome Craigslist score!!!! Hammond organ
This is awesome!!! Ok, maybe not 'awesome', but a really neat thing.
This: ![]() is a FULLY FUNCTIONAL (circa 1950s) technician's model of a Hammond Organ mechanism! ![]() Runs off of 2 D batteries, and actually outputs audio! ![]() Has 2 tonewheels and drawbars, and one working key. ![]() Really neat conversation piece, anyway! I've seen pictures of them before, but never seen one in person. I really lucked out on this one. ![]() The guy was very nice, and even gave me this (mid-40's) technician's manual, complete with penciled-in notes and a 1944 complete price list. Cool. ![]()

That is in fact, extremely cool. I'm listening to Jimmy Smith right now, giving the B3 a workout. Love that sound...Can you hook that model up to a Leslie?

Well, you could hook it up to anything; if you want to play that one note.

Nice! Falls into the category of, "I'm not sure WHY I need this, but I really need this."

Yep, nice older guy; didn't know about organs but his friend was an organ tech, who gave him the gadget.
Tell me about it. Although I could hook up a 0-3VDC variable transformer and go theremin on it.

4 notes?
There are some new-age hipster bay area bandies that would rock out on that thing, I'm sure.

This place really rocks.
First. Gogar, very cool find. The Hammond B3 was a sound I grew up with. Second. I was in a band all during high school but that was in the 70's, so I'm sort of stuck on stupid if it came after 1972. I had no clue what the reference to "theremin" meant. So...........I looked it up on the net. Way to cool. I have heard them before (star trek?) but never knew what it was, I always thought that sound came from a moog or some other synthesizer. I heard one in Baltimore harbor 7-8 years ago. Two guys were panhandeling their music on the docks and this "sound" just enveloped the entire pier. It was late at night and pitch black. I was with a date and she was more into finding a good restaurant. We ate at one of the outdoor cafe's and I listened to this thing all during the meal but by the time we finished these guys had moved on. I never found out what it was............ until now. This forum just rocks.
