$100, a girl and her brother equals score for my kids.

In my kids playroom I have a 39" tube TV.

They rarely watch it preferring to take over the 62 in flat screen in the family room.

(Spare me, I've tried to explain the concept of no cable and a 13" b/w TV with no remote that I had at their age but it's like trying to convince them I walked 10 miles to school in 3 ft deep snow uphill both ways)

So anyway, one of my female co-workers had her brother in town over thanksgiving, he works in our VA office.

Day he is supposed to fly back he pulls up to the office with a 50" DLP in the back of the rental car.

As I'm helping him bring it into the building I asked what's up with it.

Apparently it was his and while he was away doing a church thing in Africa a few summers ago his sister took it and moved to TX with it. SHe just bought a new condo and she thought it was too big for her place. Besides the fact that it did not work. So she was going to toss it. The brother being a guy felt compelled to try to save it.

One of the back panels seemed to have suffered a little heat warping so could be a fried motherboard. Hmm, $100 for a bulb only to find out it's got a bad board would suck.

He needs to catch a plane and tells me to take it, see if I can save it.

I bring it home and pull the bulb. Hmm, glass in the bottom of the bulb cage and after inspecting the bulb find the filament broken and the bulb cracked. Good sign.

Ran out and picked up a replacement, slapped it in and viola, it works.

Kids got a new TV so now they better keep their butts upstairs.

.

You also forgot to tell them you were barefoot in the snow with Barb Wire wrapped around your feet for traction..........

No offense, but yeah your kid own you......you say "They take over" Daddies 62" TV? and just who is letting them "take it over"? ....do they pout and whine and throw a tizzy fit if you don't stop at McDonalds everytime you pass?

My sister has two fat spoiled kids, and says "they make me stop" at McD's..............yeah right.

May I suggest you have your kids donate old clothes and toys to your friend to send to his church connections in Africa? I do that all the time.......old reading glasses is like gold to them, even a tube of NeoSporin antibiotic is impossible to find in developing 3rd world countries.

Sorry but the tv closest to the fridge will be there's. Animal instinct, they won't stray far from the food source.
