Avo le10
Any other aficionados tried this one?
I picked one up while cleaning my local tobacconist out of Gurkha Black Dragons. I really wish the AVO were cheaper because it is an incredible smoke with tons of rich, heavy flavors uncharacteristic of AVO. If you haven't tried one, I'd suggest forking over the ~$15/stick to at least give it a puff. |
Avo usually isn't my thing but "tons of rich, heavy flavors uncharacteristic of AVO" definitely would be... thanks for the recommendation.
My new "discovery" is the la aroma de cuba mi amor brand which is a new line from Ashton... great stick! |
Time before last that I was in the shop, the owner gave me a la aroma to try. I was very pleased with it, definitely worth the $6.50 or so per. I'll probably pick up a handful on my next visit, I've got to finish a humidor project first, or smoke a bunch, I'm out of space right now.
The AVO's flavor reminded me of a very refined and less intense JdN Dark Corojo with just a little bit of sweetness. Because of the ring gauge (56 or something like that) cutting it was...interesting, I probably should have punched it instead, and lighting took a little longer than the coronas and toros I normally keep on hand, but the pull was very smooth and the burn almost eerily even. |

That's a beauty!
I've got an old (1900-1920ish) end table that I'm converting, just waiting on the spanish cedar I've ordered to show up. It should hold ~300 when it's done. Between that and what I have, I'll be set for a little while. |
