more bass porn

As a few basses get sold off, some new ones come in to fill the vacuum. This one should be here Wed - my xmas present to myself. I don't feel that guilty after doing 50+ gigs in 2010.

I recently saw an old P Bass in rather poor condition going for $1200 US! Hard to believe I bought one new for $175 back in '67.

I thought it was break a leg, but I'll do my best

Not a wood nut (heh). It is a graphtech (Graph Tech). The fingerboard is "diamondwood" which is a stabilized wood - basically laminates with impregnated resin formed under lots of heat and pressure. Works great on a fretless.

I'll try to take some more pics when it gets here. Myrtle is tough to photograph and show the grain. This one has an oil finish which I prefer to a thick poly. Should be a fun one. My beloved Zon fretless goes to my buddy this week.

It is just not fair for you to torture us middle class bass players with your unattainable elitists bass collection!

I'm reporting you to the moderator!

Oh wait...

I am saving my pennies for an older Tobias 6 or maybe an Elrick 6. Woe to the salesperson that has to deal with me though...I'll make them put on new strings and have a luthier there to adjust the neck for MY playing. If I am spending 3K, damn right they will do that.

Wait a minute! If you look at the grain, just below the bottom pickup in the center, there is an unmistakeable rather "beav-oid" looking structure that's only partially hidden. MOD!!!!!

Nice instrument, by the way. Enjoy!

Finally got her in my hands and did two gigs yesterday. In fact we ended up on the news as the local ABC affiliate showed a snippet of our gig at the VA hospital:

Some more porn. Merry xmas to me
