That sort of thing isn't new. In the mid 70's, there was a similar competition, except it was the 0 to 100 mph to 0 again. There were several fast cars including one Cobra. The Cobra was the fastest in something like 22 seconds. Just out of curiosity, they threw in a bike. Seems like it may have been a Kawasaki and I don't remember what size bike it was. The bike ended up beating out all of the cars.

With termi cans or exhaust it would have held up to the 458's note.

and 1:19 is pretty damn fast around the Streets. I'm thinking the record is 1:17 but not sure.

Well that wasn't even close, should have been a Veyron, what does it do a 1/4 mile in?

Jeremy Toye got into the 14s a few months ago on the new BMW S1000R. 1:19 is really not that great... mid pack club racing.

Ducati: 10,000rpm * 2 cylinders = 20,000 beats/minute = 333Hz Ferrari: 9,000rpm * 8 cylinders = 72,000 beats/minute = 1,200Hz Same reason the V10 F1 cars had a higher pitched exhaust note than the higher revving V8 replacements.

The few Duc guys I know spend more than a few extra $ on linkages and tripples to get the bike to turn, and hold a line, and hook up. Watching the vid you can see where Steve starts to spin it up. I was expecting the car to do better. At what level of race prep does a car edge ahead of the bike?
