Should I buy one of these?

I love my old SC, but I'm more and more sensing that the looks I get when I drive it aren't of admiration of my steed, but rather are more, Look at the old fart in his antique car.

I'll never sell my Porsche, but I'm thinking that I'm really not that old and I have a strong desire to buy a modern, well engineered American muscle car for a daily driver.

I've pretty much narrowed it down - to a true steed indeed! Anyone here have an opinion on the Mustang Bullitt?

pwd72s 12-26-2010 08:54 AM

No opinion

True, but a Bullitt won't haul paintings & stuff as well as the Volvo wagon...

It does carry pool cues well...:D

I had a DD `96 Mustang for 11 years and liked it. Dk Blue, tint glass, rear spoiler. Bought it new. I wanted all show/no go and got a 6C / 5 spd for gas mileage and I was pretty happy about that when gas went to $4-5/gal.

As far as being an "old fart in his antique car" goes, I realized a secret my dad had learned and I got to a place where I didn't care what other people think. It is very liberating. You should see the faces of the people on the up escalator when while on the down escalator I say "AFLAC" in my best duck voice right after we pass by. They look around and I chuckle (usually they will chuckle as well). My wife gets embarrassed and chides me to behave with the "what will they think?" speech. Don't know, don't care. I don't know them or them, me. I'll never see them again. Life is too short to not have fun. Hey, if you buy a new sports car you'll still wonder if they think "mid-life crisis" or "second childhood".

So I say drive whatever makes you happy and laugh at the rest of the world. Besides, they should be more worried about what you think about them... Carpe Diem

If you had been serious, I would have suggested a Dodge Magnum SRT, or you could get a RT with AWD:D

Ignoring the fact that you're on your knees for Paul, I have to admit really digging the new 5.0 GT models. I drove a friend's '08 GT and was bored, but the 5.0 has enough changes that it's worth a drive. The friend agreed with me, he bought it new and drove it for 4000 miles, then sold it. His current garage is an E39 528i, mint CRX Si, and a nice Miata.

Having no mind of your own makes you INSIGNIFICANT...and I suppose a Liberal as well.

Seriously, do I need to write a song about this Mustang envy?

I lust for one of those as well. When the Focus RS shows up, I'll take one of those too. Ford has some pretty decent stuff going right now.
