Only 5 more days....

and I turn 60! I'm dreading this one. Normally birthdays don't bother me, but there is something about the number 60 that is making me feel quite old. I'm active, don't look as old as other guys my age, and can still run with the pack, but my head is fighting this one. I have had a tough health year and I think that is helping in making me feel old. It's like my body is giving in but my head refuses to co-operate. Oh well I'll just deal with it., But 60!!, Lordy how did this happen? I never thought I would make it this far, and now I don't want to go...oh well.

There is only one alternative to getting old. Your call...

Reaching 60 isn't hard...pulling it is!

Try to have a happy birthday & relax. The good side of being way past college cheerleaders is that you no longer talk to college cheerleaders...

Happy birthday.

Yeah right. I can't remember 40. It was all pretty much the same from 20 to around 55 as far as I can recall. I stayed in good shape and ran the Paris marathon at age 58. Two years later I have arthritis in my feet so bad I wear special shoes, I can't read anything without my glasses, my whole body hurts if I do any kind of lifting or stooping. Getting old isn't for sissies. The good part is, I can be a curmudgeon now!
Now get off my lawn!!

I know what you brothers are saying. Splitting wood, walking 5 miles hunting, things what would not effect me so much before, now, it takes days to recover. Every day I hurt someplace. I'm feeling better in a depressing way, so thanks boys.

I turned 60 last June and it was the "thinking BD". All the others came and went without fanfare. But after 60, I started to think about retirement, SS, health concerns, end of life issues, those kind of things. I find myself reading the obit's in the paper more and seeing LOTS of people expiring before age 60, so that puts you in a different mind-set. I take more pills than before 60 for some things. I'm now REALLY thinking of weight loss, healthy eating and walking as never before. All I have to do is do it. My body just moves about a second or two after my mind says to. Happy birthday, BTW

REALLY thinking is a little better than just thinking so that's a good sign.
