The World's Largest Army. America's Hunters?

Quote:

The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without someone getting killed. That's great. There were over 600,000 hunters. Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth largest army in the world - more men under arms than Iran ; more than France and Germany combined - deployed to the woods of a single American state to help keep the deer menace at bay. But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this week. Michigan 's 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia , and it is literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. America will forever be safe from foreign invasion of troops with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting - it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security!

NOW YOU KNOW WHY THE LIBERAL ANTI-GUN GROUPS WANT TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY!! THEY ARE SCARED OF US!!
I think that number might be a little low.

Considering I was carrying an 1850's design Hawken rifle in the woods this year, I don't think I would be very effective in modern battle. My 1 shot a minute rate of fire just might hold me back. :)

I'm going to reserve this spot for future arguments in case this thread gets moved to PARF.

What is one supposed to argue here? Interesting facts though...and the "keeping the deer menace at bay" part made me laugh. :)

I'm all for gun rights, but a hunter in Texas shot and killed another hunter last week and said he thought it was a deer.

I know there are idiots everywhere, but how does somebody shoot something they aren't absolutely sure is a deer?

Deer are tasty but not so much a menace as wild hogs are. Those critters should have a bounty!

When I told my anti-gun grandmother over Christmas I was driving over to the family farm to shoot cans, she said be sure and shoot any hogs you see.
