To be honest, the more clips I see of this guy, the more I worry about how this is going to turn out. Not because of him, but because of the media.

i was thinking the same thing. i get a "lottery winner" vibe from this situation. hope it works out well for him

I hear ya. He needs a full time handler for the next year or so to keep a lid on it.

He was back on the Today show today with his mom.

She's a piece of work. Very prim and proper well put together lady but when she started to relay how mortified she was that he embarrassed the family with "the sign" and how uncomfortable he looked you got the impression that nothing was ever good enough for her.

20 years, wow.

I agree, some people must be frothing with excitement at the idea of him slipping up. The media would pounce hard

In my eyes, the beauty of this is not in the redemption of one man. I like to think that after seeing this story, a lot of us will stop and think before judging the unfortunate folks on the frayed edge of society.

There are a lot of lonely, broken people out there who really could use another chance. They are people with families and friends who worry about them, who may not know if they are dead or alive. Imagine what that man's poor mother has been through. Imagine how hard it must have been for him, on the streets, probably too ashamed to even call his mother. heartbreaking. I know I'll try to think of that before I judge

I hope he does well. He seems so grateful and humble... what a lucky break.

Great story. I really hope he's able to turn it around. The test will be once he has some money in his pocket and starts to feel a little pressure/stress.....I truly hope those old demons can be held at bay......I'm pulling for him.

Thank you for seeing what my wife and I saw when we viewed the videos of their reunion. How about just a little forgiveness? For a religious woman, she seemed to be in short supply of what Jesus said we should offer completely.

I can't believe no one has mentioned how much he looks like Obama after rehab

M.D. Holloway 01-08-2011 05:04 PM

He has 10 kids, warrants, a drug and booze issue, something tells me he will need a bunch of help staying clean. What is in it for anyone to look after him? He is NT that cash rich. Its not like he is a Michael Jackov or Britney Splits - he has a common talent and a story that is good for a few days.

I hope it works out for him. I really do but I'm not placing any money betting on his success. I hope he proves.

+1 - I was going to post this too.

People love stories like these. The modern American dream. Too bad he had a hair cut! At least someone advised him to keep his camo jacket. :D

I also believe it is likely he will crash again. If you are not on drugs, you have to be mentally ill not to GTF out of Ohio in winter. I'd hitch hike to SoCal within a couple of weeks and peddle the off ramp there. Much more comfortable! Then try to get back into a job and get a room ... not that hard to pull off if you aren't nuts, even with his record.

Follow this link for "the rest of the story". He needs to come clean with what he has done to his kids and ex-wife.

Behind golden-voiced Ted Williams is ex-wife Patricia Kirtley, the story's real hero

"A viral video vaulted Ted Williams and his golden voice to fame, but the real hero of this story is the woman he left behind. Patricia Kirtley raised four daughters alone after Williams split 23 years ago and dove down the rabbit hole of drugs.
Not only that, Kirtley took in the baby boy the radioman had with another woman and raised him as her own.

Oh, and by the way, she's partially blind.

the long term homeless are homeless for a reason. sometimes five or six reasons. most are never more than two minutes away from barking and smearing themselves with poo. the rest are just lazy vermin.

while i have some hopes for this guy, i'm not going to let myself be disappointed when he backslides.

I read or heard this saying somewhere and it goes something like this... In this life all people are teachers and they can teach you two very important things: #1) What to do...#2)What not to do...

asphaltgambler 01-10-2011 07:09 AM

Actually..........................After some thought............Obama BEFORE rehab
