OFf topic; what other cars and stuff are you guys into?

my father and i have a project "VW" going on where he bought a 1981 vw rabbit diesel pickup truck. we converted it to a intercooled turbo diesel. it now burns through first and second, and chirps third. it also out acelerates my 914!
but my 914 has a higher top speed, so i eventualy win.
his engine is a 1.6L VW diesel with a modified wastegate and an intercooler off a puegot. our next setp in the project is to get it a paint job and some ground effects off a jetta. we already have 15x6 aluminum 6 spoke wheels and nice michelins all the way around.

other projects going on;
1965 landrover restoration.
1983 subaru 4wd high and low gear mud machine.
1997 5hp sohc honda powered go cart (a present for my 5 year old nephiew)
my 914!!!

so what other things are you guys into?

Other than trying to make my 914 go faster and learning how to drive it on the track, I also enjoy whitewater kayaking.

Actually it is my daily driver, has been for the last ten years. Now that my teener is getting closer to being road worthy. The big beast is going in for some better ground effects and lots of sanding and paint. Still plan on donating the the big brakes to the little car.
How is it I own two of the least liked Porsches. Simple I can spot a winner and keep a secret as far as bang for the buck goes.

My kids, family, and work of course. My 914 has all my finances and extra time taken up for now. I'm starting a new company next month so hopefully the funds will pick up next year and I'll be driving that new 2002 GTI GLX VR6 with the 6-speed tranny. Silver with 911 Turbo twist wheels. That thing is gonna be bad. I hope they offer the 4Motion for it in the US.

BTW, My previous ride was a 1991 GTI 16V with stock Recaro seats and euro lights, neuspeed junk, chip, no cat, "turbo" exhaust, k&n, tokica shocks and springs, konig wheels. Right after I got rid of it the Honda scene started up. Now the car would probably be sort of ricey, but in it's time there were no others around. Best car I've ever owned so far. It had more personality than the 944 turbo as far as I'm concerned. FWD too.

When I finally drive the 914 it may be replaced but we'll have to see.

Collecting vintage Las Vegas memorabilia, playing the bass, motorcycles (currently 2000 Indian Chief, 2000 Ducati Monster 750, 2002 Ninja 250), Jeeps (bought 7 since '95 and I just ordered my 8th), racing in SCCA but soon to add some PCA events, and the odd Rolex now and then, and whatever skiing the knees will stand. I am not into video games, but I ran across the Need for Speed (?) Porsche edition the other day and it looked promising. Yesterday I bought the Logitech Momo Force wheel and pedal system, and I can't wait to try it on the 47" tv that gets delivered Saturday.

Anyone know where I can get an inch and a half high Porsche logo sticker or emblem to mount in the middle of the Momo game wheel?

I'm sure I'm the anomaly on this board. I just wasn't born with testosterone to burn. I do ALOT of reading of whatever is in front of me at the moment. I write a bit, mostly for myself. I draw alot, mostly pencil & charcoal (can't wait for my 911RS clone to come home for some serious modeling).

Actually, the writing & drawing have much to do with my 6 year old boy. I don't get into scrap books, so he and I are working on a kid's book together - his prose about being 'him' at age 6 and my illustrations. I hope it's never published. It's, personally, too good .

Oh, I love the track. I just can't get that fist-pumping move down!

I'm into anything with wheels but, I'm a work-a-holic. Which is probably why I have 9 wheeled objects to work with. Or maybe... I just don't know when to quit. I have everything from my first car to things I have saved from the crusher. Most are on the family spread, a half city block in a small KS town, in the barn. So here is the list.

48'Chev 2dr sedan (my parade car 80% original, vacuum shift 3spd, babbit rod 6 cyl.)
68' Pont. GTO (convertable rolling body I rescued, no motor, trans or int.)
69' Pont GTO (2dr Ht, big motor, big cam, big carb, big stall converter, bla bla bla...)
70' Ford Pu 4x4 (good drive train, I need to "knock this in the head" for parts, the rest is junk)
72' MGB roadster ( I inherited this, it's ok but the rods rattle when its warmed up.)
72' Chev Cheyenne PU (weekend parts hauler, My employer provides the daily driver (F-350 box trk))
80' 931 (an abused example, I hope to improve upon)
88' Dahatsu hijet ( Imagine a golf cart size dump truck, it's my swapmeet packmule)
98' Olds Aurora ( wifes daily driver and our trip car)

I will spare you with the parts list, which includes parts for cars I don't have.

Yet?

I like BMWs and Miatas in addition to Porsches. I like reading as well, and studying government and history. I want to be a lawyer someday (only 17 now).

Listen to music for hours a day... rockclimb(indoor) I want to built a bouldering cave in my home... not enough time, but I luckily have a hangboard I use alot. Love estes model rockets, and converting toy vehicles into rocket power vehicles. I took a remote control car, stripped motor and everything and put a D engine on it... had to test weights on it to keep it on the ground by trial and error(much fun!!!) I built many a balsa wood planes and strapped model rocket engines to them. (have had one with 3 foot wing span and D size engine for like a year... waiting untill that "special moment" to launch for fear of never seeing it again) I hope one day to build a rocket car(hehe jk) I have made many spud shooters (hair spray powered things... much fun too) Also pneumatic versions of the spud guns... launced all sorts of things from them!(basically a CO2 powered bb gun that is inflated in size by 1000000% hehe) I would absolutely love to be an engineer but am going to school for bussiness next year... Going to St. Josephs U in Philly. Oh and love motorcycles. I would die for a GSX-R. I cycle like crazy to... personal record of 43.5mph and in one day the longest trip- 53 miles. Wow! I said alot! I want to make a website with pics of all my stuff and my car and put stories that would be so much fun! just writing this was so much fun later guys

Pat
