If I didn't love her....

I went upstairs last night to find out that my Wife had re-arranged the media room. Normally not a big deal but...in doing so she decided to box all of mine and our Son's Porsche car collection. Now we have been collecting Matchbox, Hot Wheel, Johnny Lightning, Solido, Kyosho, et al for over 4 years and have amassed over 200 of them. They were in two glass doored cabinets on either side of the wide screen. The were organized accorded to model (the 911 on one shelf, the 959 on another, the 944, 928, 924 on a shelf and the various race models on their own. They were also organized according to year and style.

All-in-all, we had about 6 hours into the organization of it. She decided to move around all the furniture in the room to better accommodate some big pics of the kiddos. OK, her idea is a good one. Well, in doing so she dumps all the cars into a huge Tupperware storage box and puts them in the guest room.

I didn't know what she was up to, as I first walked into the media room I wasn't really shocked at all (at first). She (even though legally blind) still has about 10% vision in her left eye - none in her right so the fact that she does anything is great IMO. She has been known to move the living room and dining room around a bit to 'mix things up' and give her something to do during the day. This was no different.

The first thing I said was "Wow! This is great. You really worked hard! Thats allot of heavy lifting. I really like you idea." She was happy I acknowledged her work and liked her idea. I then saw the two cabinets sans P-cars.

"Honey pie, where are the Porsche's?"

"OH, I put them in the guest room. I thought we could use those cabinet shelves to show various pictures we have gone on vacations."

"Hmmm...OK. Ya, thats a good idea. Question, where do you think we should keep the Porsche cars?"

"Yard sale? E-bay? I don't know..." She said.

Don't worry. She is still alive...

My first ex-wife cleaned out our closet one day. Including my shoe box which contained a full roster of cards for each MLB team starting in 1960 through 1968. Yup. All of them. Coulda bought a beaach house with those cards.

So this little hobby that Father and Son share together is being fked with...and might I add on purpose...it may not be a calculated move, but never the less she at some level does know she is fking with you and your sons relationship. My guess is that her insecurity gets to her and she can't help herself. Rationality would suggest that her position is not jeapordized because you have a father son relationship that is between the two of you, that she doesn't need to be directly part of. But then that ole insecurity raises it's head and clouds the vision..

"Ohh dear, don't you love the way I have rearranged the furniture., and I thought all our camping pictures would look wonderful on those shelves. And I threw all those dumb Porsche toys in a box that we can sell at yard sale or maybe ebay? What do you think honey?"

Better yet,

put her shoes and purses in a box in the guest room,

and display your cars where the shoes and purses used to be.

U see Lubby is in a race and he doesn't even know it....either he will get so burned out of having to put up with his wifes antics that he just won't care anymore and will leave or he will have a heart attack and die.

Maybe its her way of saying she would like to see pictures of everybody she loves and holds close to her, Vacation times she can see and remember, instead of the Porsches, during her last years of having eyesight. They may be images she can barely see but because she was there the mind can develop them more and give her a little enjoyment.

I don't know. Just a thought.

I feel your frustration, but I can also see why the wife may have done something like that.

My wife moves stuff around all the time, drives me nuts. She never puts anything back in the same place and always moves my stuff. When you figure out what to do, tell us.

IMO ..you went from feeling in love with her..
to ' I'm responsible for her...'
if your kids were older..
I believe you would be gone..

you are VERY lucky - this time it was just the model cars, next time it is the full size car, and after that it will be your breast milk viscosity sample collection
