Wood Pallet: Anyone know of...

.... a place where I can order a single pallet for delivery on line? Need to get one to the shop in Chicago where my blown motor currently resides. I'm on the west coast otherwise I'd go track one down in person.

Thanks,

And I would do just that but as I noted in the original post, I'm sitting on the west coast and the motor is in Chicago. Shop is very busy and the owner is out on paternity leave. Trying to take the burden off his plate.

Maybe a local could pick one up from behind Staples, hardware store, etc and drop it off to the shop for you?
Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to help out a fellow Pelican - certainly not worth ordering a new one online - they are remarkably expensive new.

I would look for another motor if it was me! If they can't even pick up a pallet to ship you a motor you paid for, how much care will they take in packing and how honest will they be on the condition of it! I ship large parts for Unimogs all over the world, and I have never paid for a pallet, or charged a customer for it. This is just a cost of doing business. I can see a very small crating fee, but that would be about it. Tell them you are going to go somewhere else, and see how fast they change their tune! In this economy, you have to keep your customers happy, or they will go somewhere else!

I'm not buying the motor, I already own it. The shop has been storing the motor and chassis for me. Its a busy place so a mechanics time to run out and track down a pallet is valuable.

Call a pallet company in Chicago and have one delivered there. The pallet will be about $15 and since you only need one they'll probably charge $20 or so for delivery.

Where is the shop?

ETA: I would be concerned about how they will fasten the engine onto the pallet. If they can't be bother with sending one off their guys to go get a ballet or stop at the Jewel for a pallet on the way to work, how much effort will they put toward setting and securing the engine to the pallet. Kinda sucks since you've paid them for simple storage all these months.

Just pick one up locally behind a business, and slap a UPS label on it. Done. BTDT.

Truth be told I've had a pretty nice arrangement, free storage. Its a buddy's shop but he and his wife just had a baby so he's preoccupied as you could well imagine.

Shop in just outside the loop. I'll have to try a couple more local pallet joints.

Just outside the loop narrows it down to a 50 mile diameter. Why don't you list the street address or cross streets and zip?

Who is doing the work? Can't find a pallet or wood? Something is wrong.

I have a Crater:

International Packaging and Crating - They are great. The will come to the shop, measure it up for a crate, make it, secure it and if you wish arrange for shipment.

Who is the rebuilder? where are they located?
