A while ago ther was this guy making an appearance on tv, talked about his Defender with which has been to 143 countries and totalled 3 million kilometers. He has kept souvenirs from every place he went, weird car to say the least. You probably will not understand a word but it's worth seeing the car.

I don't like trucks but I really want a D90.
I think that they are the only vehicle that you can wera a safari hat while driving.

A few months ago my theroy was confirmed when I saw 3 guys driving in one in town wearing safari hats and drinking beer. It was great.

They are just on the short list of really cool vehicles. I want one and I don't generally like Jeep-type rigs. They look like they're incredibly well made.

D90, FJ-60 or -62. Those are amongst the vehicles I don't need, but really really want. I steal a glance at the Range Rover lot down the street from my office every time I drive by to see if one just happens to be for sale. Good thing (?) I don't have $30K disposable dollars for a Rover. At least the Land Cruisers are somewhat affordable (though some guy's got his on Craigslist for almost $15K right now).

If anyone is interested, a guy down the street from me brings over a few Defenders every couple of months to resell. Usually, just 90's and 110's that he has retrofitted to be a little more amenable to the American driver, but I know he just got a gorgeous 130 hi-cap. His trucks usually run from ~30-70.

There's also a guy in the ATL area that sells the early pre-'defender' 90's and 110's for around 10k. The petrols are solid, but the 2.5d from that era has some known issues.

Go to the U.K. Join up with the "Blokes from Hereford" (yes, I know they've since moved). When you get to Afghanistan they will give you one as a company car.......

Rarity. You can't import them (yet). However, D90's can be had for under $25k. But that's a lot when you compare it to the same rig (albeit a diesel & probably a hardtop) in Europe. D110's are stupid money because they brought so few into the country. Ditto importing one. Ditto prices in the UK. But they can carry 10 in extreme discomfort.

I put many, many miles on both when I lived in England & Scotland. Noisy, uncomfortable and require a lot of tinkering- but very cool at the same time.

Rather like Porsches!

I tell people the same about Land Rovers as I do Porsches. Go drive one. You'll soon see what the fuss is all about!
