Trash Talking the BCS Game - UO

I have thoughtfully reserved this space for all of you to attack the Ducks.

Buckterrier 01-08-2011 10:35 AM

I'm rooting for them. Hope it's a good game.

JR Indy 01-08-2011 10:49 AM

Too bad their academics is not even rated in the top 100.

RWebb 01-08-2011 11:00 AM

eh???

both UO and Auburn are in the top class of research universities - so not sure what you mean or which univ. you mean it about...

JR Indy 01-08-2011 11:03 AM

UO isn't in the top 100, Auburn is.

As much as I HATE Auburn, as they are a big LSU rival, I have to go with them and the SEC...

(Ask the Aggies about the SEC.. Geaux LSU! )

That's a good thing for UO.

As college football fans let's just hope it's a good game.

you must be looking at some ranking other than ones I look at - ID it so I can see what you are talking about

Auburn IS an Ag. school, so it would be expected to pull in more grant $$ than UO which is not a Morrill Act school

I'm sure it will be a good game BTW - just compare the offenses

mca 01-08-2011 12:08 PM

I'm rooting for the Ducks in this one. I usually root for the underdog and since the SEC has owned the BCS title for so many years ... Ducks it is.

Laneco 01-08-2011 12:57 PM

GO DUCKS!!!!!

angela (quacker-backer)

L8Brakr 01-08-2011 07:30 PM

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably just a duck...........

Auburn, on the other hand, is definitely the best semi-pro team in the NCAA........

If my money is on the line, I'll stick with the semi-pros from the plains......And I hate Auburn

M.D. Holloway 01-08-2011 07:39 PM

TCU can whoop ya all!

Heel n Toe 01-08-2011 11:36 PM

Final score Auburn 22, Oregon 19!

L8Brakr 01-10-2011 08:35 PM

Five in a row for the SEC! Oregon had their chances but two red zone trips that put nothing on the scoreboard was too much to overcome.

sammyg2 01-11-2011 05:39 AM

It was very difficult to root against a PAC-10 team and even harder to root for an SEC team, but I did and I'm smiling :)

jjwood 01-11-2011 10:02 AM

What's the story on the Ducks' helmets -- looked like carbon fibre. no comment on the dayglo lime /yellow trim. Props to both teams... a very good game.

from a sad Longhorn

Being a PNW man to the bone marrow, I very much wanted OU to clobber Auburn. I expected Auburn to have the edge in the "brute force" category, and OU to win the finesse and speed contest. What I saw was a VERY good, VERY fast Auburn team that not only kept up with OU speed stride-for-stride, but also decisively controlled the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. Those guys are excellent football players who are very......very well-coached. Hats off to Auburn.

RWebb 01-11-2011 12:00 PM

I'm a little surprised that UO did as well as they did.

They were glad just to get that far - 1st time in history, and will be back next year with all but 3-4 players/starters.

Great game plan. They were outmanned, but in general a great game plan and play calling.

gt350mike 01-11-2011 02:13 PM

OU did a great job of limiting Cam Newton but Auburn still managed to net 500+ yards. THANK GOD the Auburn's defense prevented OU's offense from turning the game into a track meet. It was a great game to watch regardless of which team you liked (or hated) and it goes without saying that both teams were very deserving of the opportunity to play in the Championship game.

What disappoints me were the comments made this morning from ESPN commentator. Can't remember his name but he just couldn't resist to ruin the moment by saying "The FBI is now involved with the investigation to determine if any violations were committed.....". Someone needs to remind him that the subject has been been beat to death throughout the entire season so if he wants to sling mud, he needs to find something else to "report".

patssle 01-11-2011 02:19 PM

There's a live video stream still streaming from the stadium. Last I checked, Oregon was still trying to run the option up the middle...

Oregon is also know as the University of Nike. Free custom uniforms for every special event helps move more merchandise to the fan base....rabid fans will always buy a new and different jersey.....More profits for Phil.

haha!

worked so well on the lessor teams of the Pac-10 tho

my one quibble with Coach Kelly's game plan was that he never stopped doing that - the Auburn players did look fatigued after a while, but not enuff

mca 01-11-2011 04:04 PM

Both teams looked a little shaky if you asked me. Wasn't terribly impressed with either.

However, I attribute that to the fact that they had to wait nearly 50 days to play the game.
