Excellent special issue of "Octane" magazine

It's titled "Porsche Classics" and was published by the guys at Octane magazine from the UK.

It has some great articles on all Porsche models, the history, and some interviews with legendary drivers like Derek Bell.

Magazines are one "extra" that I gave up when I became unemployed. It was $22.50 at Barnes and Noble but I think it is worth keeping in the files.

Yes. I have it and it is worth every penny. There are 250 pages, and not a lot of ads.

Big thumbs up.

Looks like I'll be making a trip to B&N.

Ohh, don't do that! Magazines are your best information/entertainment value! ;)

I'm wondering, some magazine genres went straight down the tubes with the advent of the internet, while others (mine for example) are thriving. I have my theory, but I wonder what magazine purchasers (or ex purchasers) think. In your opinion, do paper magazines have something to offer that you can't get from a computer?

In my case, it was purely financial. We looked at our finances and saw that this was not something that was needed. I enjoy the heck out of mags but you have to start somewhere when you need to tighten the belt.

(My problem was buying several per month at 6.7.or 8 bucks a piece.)

I still get Excellence and Pano and , as long as I own a Porsche, I will.

Wow. Same here.

I debated the Octane magbook. Glad I broke down and bought it.

Honestly, I don't even visit bookstores anymore. I only bought this because I had a gift card from my wife.

Magazines are actually my favourite medium. The internet is great, but the vehicle utilized to supply the medium (aka: the computer) is an unfriendly format. Cold and glaring, it can't come close to the relationship a person can have with printed media.

I just don't understand the new Kindle phenomena. Why would people who work in front of a screen all day want to go home and relax with another one? Even I, as a mechanic who does not work with computers, have no interest in reading from an electronic tablet. I love printed books and magazines and hope that they will always be with us.
