My commuter car is going to be paid off in April. Bought it new in 2005. I'm giving it to my daughter this fall for her 16th birthday, shhh, don't say anything. I plan on buying a used Ford Excursion diesel within the next couple of months to replace it.

my $400 daily driver e30 is nearing the end of it's useful life. i'll probably pay cash for a boxster when i get out to california in a couple of weeks.

id love to buy a new car, but i just can't justify it. unless i won the lottery, and i had ample cash to buy a new GT3 or a Ferrari outright, then i wouldnt do it.

I buy a new car for me, mostly because I haven't had one of those before, so many cars to like, my wife gets a NEW car every five years, I get a DIFFERENT car about every 18 months. Right now I am hunting for a 2000 bracket Z3 Coup, I have never owned a car newer than 1989 before, never owned a car with airbags. Not only will I be getting something newer, I will become one of the people I always made fun of. A BMW owner. And I will be selling my 89 Vanagon/Subaru. A very clean, smog legal in Calif. nice car, but it's time to move on.
