Wow, cool place. I cant imagine having so much space, hard to find around here.

WIL84911 01-12-2011 07:15 AM

Beautiful home. I say try it at 249K or even a bit higher. You never know. Maybe even a Pelican might go for it with that kind of car space.

Good luck with the sale. Ours has been on the market for just over 100 days. Of course, here in Central Ohio (our house is about 15 minutes from Mid-Ohio), you get a lot more for your money.

Now there's the rub.

In WA our tax rates are 1/2 that on value.

Midwest = nasty tax rate.

Hey Mericet. Do you get to Waldo much for a Baloney Sandwich? Love that place.

Mostly, just Illinois, second to Kali for the worst fiscal practices o any state! We are broke, and the Governor just got his 67% tax hike. At the same time Wisconsin governor is advertising a tax break for small businesses to move north of the border.

Bunch of idiots we have in Springfield....

BTW. The next town over, Naperville, the tax on the house would be $12,000/yr. And the house maybe $100k more.

I did some research in Omaha and about keeled over. My ex's Mom lives in appraised $500K (AT THE TIME) house and her property tax is just under $12K a year.

OUCH.

No, but I do know where in the world Waldo is. Most places around here have it on the menu though.

My house was bought at $306,500 in 1998 here in California

Tax is $3700ish

Today the houses value is $680,000 ish

The tax is the same, they just rape me elswhere.

Gogar 01-12-2011 09:31 AM

I'm guessing Mid $400s here.

MotoSook 01-12-2011 09:39 AM

At our old house, I seem to recall looking at the tax accessment and concluding that since 80% of the money was going towards school, I didn't mind since we had 4 kids in school at the same time. I also concluded that I would move as soon as the kids were out of school. It happened sooner, and now we have double the tax ($11,000-$12,500) probably be the next one) at the new place, but we have a unique property here. I could be in Naperville and pay the same tax, but I'd be living in a 80 year old house 1/2 the size of our place now, and have no yard to speak of.

I'll take this for $12K a year in taxes...

Year round vacation home...with a 6000 sf man haus!

I'm not opposed topaying taxes....I just want my contribution to be spent responsibly...and that hasn't happened in Illinois in a longggg time!

krystar 01-12-2011 09:49 AM

MotoSook 01-12-2011 09:54 AM

Souk;

Where are you moving? Staying out that way or moving closer to civilization?

MotoSook 01-12-2011 10:32 AM

Staying out of the way....moved further west, 'bout 7 miles.

Mike Andrew 01-12-2011 10:39 AM

So you are in Iowa, eh(:

jcommin 01-12-2011 10:59 AM

You need to look at recent comps in the area. It is irreleavant what this could / should of went 3 years ago. Remember you are also competing with short sales and foreclosures.

What is sad is the selling costs falls on the seller. Comissions, surveys, taxes and misc just add up to a load full of money.

Good luck.
