First would have to be a prime or CAB Ribeye at about 1 1/2 inches thick with excellent marbling cooked rare to med rare, over mesquite is preferred.

I'm also very fond of beef enchiladas with a fried egg or two, over easy, on top. Most places don't have it on the menu, but I've never had anyone tell me they won't make it. It's awesome!

if we're not talking cost, my favorite home cooked meal is spam in a pressure cooker w/ potatoes, carrots, onions and plenty of butter and good mustard. No shlt, I'm serious.

Love it!

I'm not going to say hot tamales with Tabasco sauce on them!!!
I'd say chicken and dumplings or red beans and rice with Andouille sausage.

Back in the SF bay area it was the pollo super burrito and horchata from El Farlito. Around here it's generals chicken from San Fu when my stomach can handle it or shrimp fettucini alfredo from Paizannos.

I've starting to appreciate red taters in any form with butter garlic and parsely, and the girlfriend makes a wicked Ramen pizza in cast iron believe it or not.

What?! I've got to pick just one? I can't. I love Indian food, I love Chinese, I love Japanese (sushi and non-sushi), Steak, Italian, Cajun, unsophisticated comfort food, etc....

Wow, I couldn't even begin to pick one thing as a favorite. That is like asking who's the hotest or sexiest girl I've ever seen or what's the best sex I've ever had. Nope, can't pick the best sunset either.

But reading this thread has made me hungry.

masraum 01-17-2011 07:35 PM

Wait!!!

I like to eat at the Y! That's my favorite meal.

Me too! I like pie! :D

DARISC 01-17-2011 07:49 PM

For breakfast, cackleberries scrambled with fungus and grunt with moo juice or coffee.

Tobra 01-17-2011 09:35 PM

Can't pick one, fortunately I shall never be a condemned man who has to pick only one. The wife can make some wicked cajun food, fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy is tough to beat though. Really can't pick one thing.

Best meal I ever had was breakfast at my aunt Dorothy's place in Scottsbluff, NE. She had like 15 different things, and you did not really want to eat too much of any one thing, because it was all so good. She made these eggs, hardboiled, then molded sausage around it and cooked the sausage with the in the middle. I swear I don't understand how her husband, my uncle John, is not as big as a house. Good lord that woman can cook.

I've heard that it stems from the male dominance and suppression of females in that region; something about the women taking some kind of perverse pleasure in slicing up cucumbers.

I hear that in a few ME regions where the men have caught on, they don't even grow or import cucumbers, much less eat them.

I'm not crazy about cucumbers either - but when I was younger I used to hang out around them in the produce dept. at the supermarket because it was a great way to pick up women. I would always pass on any that looked like they were from the ME though.
