Blankfein invited to meet with Hu Jintao?
Didn't post this in PARF as it's not intended to be a political question, more of an economic one or maybe just a question in general....
I see that Lloyd Blankfein, along with several other CEOs, has been invited to meet with President Hu Jintao today. Now, I'm just an ordinary guy and maybe I'm missing something here, but does anybody else have a huge problem with that? I mean, what kind of message is that sending to the rest of the world? This guy, along with several of his cronies, was recently paraded in front of Congress and was essentially made the poster boy for the economic meltdown. Goldman was fined over $500 million for their illegal/unethical practices and now this guy is invited to meet the President of China...?!!! On what grounds -- is he supposed to learn something from the Chinese? Is he there to tell them how to screw over their people financially? I just don't get it. To me, we're either telling the world we approve of what he and his company did or we're saying that the whole Congressional "trial" was a joke and didn't really mean anything. The other CEOs all seem to be good choices, but Blankfein sticks out like a sore (criminal) thumb. Somebody tell me what I'm missing here......?

You aren't missing a thing. Read Michael Lewis's books or watch the vidoes at:
Author Michael Lewis On Wall St's Delusion - 60 Minutes - CBS News The world economy is being manipulated by a very few people who are more powerful than any world government.

Yes, Lewis does some great work. "Liar's Poker" and "The Big Short" were both great reads.
I understand the power and connectedness of the US and global banking systems and how they're REALLY the ones in charge, I guess what I'm not quite getting is why nobody else seems to have a problem with Blankfein being at the meeting. The story keeps getting reported by the usual media outlets, but I seem to be the only one making the connection (and therefore, the only one getting pissed off....). Like I said, I'm just a regular guy and in no way, shape or form claim to be a sage, but the whole thing just stinks to me. If I were Hu Jintao I would look at the guy and say, "Tell me again why you're here? Just sit in the corner Lloyd The Thief and take notes."

maybe it is part of plan to have our high finance guys infiltrate as sleeper agents - if we ever do get in a big argument with China, they can then melt down the Chinese financial system
