Going to Barrett Jackson...what else?
 

A few of us guys are going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale to check out some of the cars. We are flying out tomorrow morning if the snow doesn't delay us. What else is there to do there and in the surrounding Scottsdale area? I searched a little and someone mentioned the Penske Racing Museum. That sounds like a good idea. Anything else?

If any of your group golfs there are something like 100 plus courses in the area. My favorite is the Boulders (Boulders Golf Club - Home). If you rent a car a drive up to Sedona is nice.

reality is.........unless i have FREE tickets i aint EVEN getting close to that neck of the woods. insane traffic gridlock. pima rd and snobbsdale rd will be NUTZ and have plenty of radar to boot.


i used to work for barrett years ago. the allure wore off years ago. now if my buddy has a car going to auction, and did his standard drill of going to lokal TA TA bar and getting 4-6 flooozies to dance around his car 1/2 nikkid(naked), the allure may come back for me.


now if i were YOU after braving the crowds, i would go to downtown snobbsdale, as that is a lil drive south on snobbsdale rd from barrett auction area. there will be less crowds there. anything in n. snobbsdale will be packed,around snobbsdale airport will be packed, and the uberest KIERLAND shopping area and restaurants will be packed to the gunnels as the show progresses.


or i would come up to cave creek or carefree with a designated driver and sample the 27 or so western bars , maybe git yer azz kicked in a REAL KAWBOY FIGHT, bust some lil dawgies or ride the bull at the buffalo chip saloon, wear yer kawboy boots and kawboy hat and fit right on in.


just remember pima rd(n-s) and snobbsdale rd(n-s) will be FLOODED with da coppers(cops) because of all the drunken boofoonary.


and then we get to endure all the goofy golfers and their entourages,showing up for the tournament also right in the same area.


and unless the tickets are free to the bird nest(doobie bros this year i here) meat market(where the elite meat meet meat), and the pro-am...............i aint going either. too much hassle and i have been going with corp. tickets since they were playing at phx. country club.


so yeah its a good time, but after doing it fer years its kind of like going to disneyland 7 days a week,every day of the month,every month of the year.

I've never been to BJ because it's always when I'm in Vegas or LA for work. But I could make this one. I need a connection though. Not gonna pay what it costs. I'll probably go shoot instead. Sedona is about two hrs. from Scottsdale, but the traffic there on Saturdays SUCKS.
