Android (Samsung Epic) Email Question

Question for the techies here:

I just bought a Samsung Epic 4G for my wife.

The issue is that (different than on her old blackberry), once her desktop accesses email (using Outlook) we have it setup to delete from the mail server. Once that happens, the old emails are removed from the handheld (it synchronizes to the server which is now empty).

Any way to keep the old messages on the handheld as with a Blackberry?

THANKS!

I'm curious to know too. I think she's just SOL, but I could be wrong.

What kind of email is it, and what app is she unsung to check it on her phone? The only way that I can think would be to use an app that downloads the mail as if from a pop3 acct, instead of using a webmail interface (like using yahoo mail).

Set Outlook prefs to leave on server for X number of days.

Only one device can control the server.

So you may want to tell Outlook to NOT delete and manage it from the Mobile device.

Or set up a secondary email address, maybe gmail, that fetches from primary account and let the phone use that one.

Gmail can be set to respond from the original recipient address so it's transparent.

It is a POP account (from secureserver / go daddy). I set up the included email feature that came with the phone (from Sprint).

The handeld is set up not to delete from the server but the Outlook is set to delete after downloading to the desktop.

THANKS!

To accomplish what you want, you should set it up to use IMAP. You probably have it setup as a POP account.

Follow the IMAP instructions on this page Using an Android Mobile Device with Your Email - Search the Go Daddy Help Center

I would setup Outlook as an IMAP client as well.

Thanks Paul. I'll try that!
