Clicking on emails opens IE. Default to Mozilla?

All:

How do I make emails open in Mozilla? If I click on an email address on a website, Internet Explorer (IE) opens, even though I clicked on the address in Mozilla Firefox and I have my Hotmail open. I do not use IE because it sucks. Mozilla is set as my default browser, but every time, IE tries to open.

Can I change it so when I click on the email address, Hotmail starts a new email under the Mozilla tab?

I Googled it, but all I get is how to set my default browser. Done that.

If anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it!

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

I'm not in front of a computer, but try this..
Setting the Default Email Client in Windows XP

Or search Google for default mail client and your OS.

Slodave:

Just went through all that, clicked on an email address from a website, and BAM! IE started to open. Bollocks.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Paul.

Why not default to a Mac? I did that a year ago, and I haven't had one single regret-

N!

PS: If you are going to stick with existing hardware, then try google Chrome. It makes IE look like a diesel chevette with an automatic transmission that is trying to tow a large boat anchor. And I'm pretty sure it blocks IE when it operates.

All:

Update- I tried to disable IE.

Control Panel

Add or Remove Programs

Set Program Access & Defaults

Custom

Mozilla Firefox

OK.

Click on email address. IE starts to open. Lots of sweary words. Go back to 'Custom'. It had defaulted back to IE. There was no 'Apply' button.

WTF?

Norm, his problem is the every time he clicks on an email link, IE opens instead of Mozilla. Switch browsers won't work. :)

Can't really help right now. If it's not solved byt the time I get back later, I'll look into it more.

Thanks for the help SloDave!

Thanks also for summing up my problem in one simple sentence!

Now I get what you are trying to do. Not possible as far as I know. You can make Widows open Mozilla Thunderbird - The outlook express like email client. But that is a separate program.

Chrome scares me. It has big brother written all over it, and that new OS they will be offering just confirms my point.

All:

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I'm screwed. I got an email (Hotmail) yesterday that contained an email address. I clicked on the email address hoping Hotmail would open a new email, with the address already in the 'To' box. No dice. IE started opening again.

I can click and hit 'save email address' to get round it, but what a PITA!

Thanks again.

Paul.

did you try this??
delete Mozilla then reload it from the web,
set it as your browser,
remove IE from the remove programs section
