Ok, you bookworms.........

I was cleaning out some boxes in the attic and found an original copy of "A Book of New England Legends and Folk Lore" by Samuel Adams Drake. It was published by the Roberts Brothers in 1884. The spine of the book is still solid, i.e. no pages are loose but the top of the cover is torn a distance of about1"+. Looks like it might be bound in leather. This book has a copyright date of 1883 so I believe it must be a first edition. My paternal grandfather was from Vermont so I believe it must have come from his house when we sold it. Any thoughts on value? I'll try to post some pictures later.

Thanks,

1st Edition would state that - or not at all but if it wasn't it would state that it was a 2nd or more. Not sure how much it is worth but I'll offer a bid of $25 to start.

Book......

I don't see any "1st edition" markings, but the only dates are "copyright 1883" and "published 1884".

This is getting interesting..........

Found a book by the same author printed in 1883 that is on the market priced at $875.00! Looks to be in about the same quality/condition! Also discovered that this book is still being printed. I just might have to break down and (carefully) read it.

Ya never know about these things. People pay ridiculous amounts of money for all sorts of inane things- like some folks around here, for instance.
