40 years later my class ring still doesn't fit
I spotted my class ring in my wife's jewelry box and tried it on. It flies off when I shake my hand, just like it did when I got it.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1295808496.jpg Maybe they didn't offer 1/4 sizes then, the band I normally wear is an 8.25. Should I start cracking my knuckles? Jim |
My God, you are an old fart, same class I was in!
Re-size the puppy and wear it! |
Very cool, I've never seen one like that before, unusual design.
There are only three ways to get that to fit. Wear it on a different finger (assuming it fits one of the larger fingers), gain a bunch of weight, or get it resized. |
Mine is too lose too, except on my knuckles. I had to get it large enough to go over my knuckle, and its too loose on my finger, So I rarely wear it, or my eagle ring.

I've aquired a few more over the years. Would you believe me if I said we moved a lot when I was in high school?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1295829383.jpg I'm sure one of them will fit should I get the urge to wear a class ring. I'll remember to do a little research so that I at least know what state my chosen school was located. Jim |
I assume you buy them for the scrap value? Whats a class ring worth if it is actually gold?
Not that I care, mine are both silver vanadium..... |

Sidney, at present I'm giving $9.60/gram for 10kt, $14.80 for 14. I fear your silver vanadium ring won't bring much, though I don't expect you to need the service of my fellow professionals any time soon.
wigeon, I am a pawnbroker. I don't think I've ever sold a class ring for scrap in the 25 years I've been open, something of a non-intrest bearing account if you will, although the recent metal rise would provide some return on investment. Perhaps I'm naively hoping Johnny or Suzie (or their parents) will eventually come around and buy back their ring. It doesn't take too many fingers to count the number of times that has happened. Not to discount the number of customers who keep their rings current and eventuall pick them up, but it seems once they get overdue they end up in the Crown Royal bag. Jim |

Not sure why, but I never got a class ring for high school or college (nor wedding ring). Just not into jewelry I guess.
EDIT: Just remembered I got a ring for football when we were state champs my junior year (1976). I compared it to my sons ring for winning the swimming high school state championship last year and mine looked like a girls ring compared to his. |
I'll never know if mine would fit. It's somewhere in a fig orchard next to a road. Probably covered up with asphalt by now. My GF & I had a misunderstanding, asked for it back, we made up, I gave it back. We were cruising on a road outside of town through some fig orchards in a TR3. She was smoking a cigarette and flicked it out. The ring was on one of her fingers and went with the cigarette. Never found it.

This is why when my last relationship reached the breakup eminent stage I quietly started retrieving my things.... :D |
Never bothered to get one. Could care less about high school or anyone from that time in my life, to be honest. I think it's cool some of you guys have such fond memories of those years and have an attachment to them. I don't.

Mine got melted down to make a gold dress ring. Still have it but its a skosh small these days.
|
someone really needs to redesign a class-ring. i didnt like the shape then, and i dont now.
i got one in highschool, put it on, hated it..lost it. why not just a simple etched band? |
My class ring has apparently shrunk over the years.
They say a man's hand size is related to his.....ahem, Johnson. Well, my hand is bigger than it used to be now, but nothing else has grown. Well, my belly is larger. I'm confused. |

Now who says I am not a nice guy? Not to mention there isn't much of a market for a gold UConn BS in chemistry ring these days. Took me forever to find the darned ring since I hadn't worn it in about 10 years prior to trading it in. |
