Choosing a GPS
on the one hand you have the Garmin - nüvi 265WT for a little over $100, gets great reviews, though many are from 2009. Then there's the Garmin - nüvi 3760 for $400, also decent reviews.
Don't really see why the price difference. and then you go here: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/filter-compare.do?cID=133&locale=en_US&height=640&width=8 70&ra=true and there's a frickin million models to choose from? Anyone have one or the other? Pros, cons? Just need an up-to-date, basic unit, traffic would be nice now and again. |
I know this 1 is very good....Garmin - nüvi 265WT

Choosing a GPS
Garmon is hard to beat.
There are tons of models, just find the one with the features you want or need. |
Garmin is very good. I like their stuff. My backpacking GPS is a garmin.
My ex got me a Magellan for the cars, its ok, but I don't use it much. |
Garmin Nuvi 1390 LMT.
this one, features for the price, looks most promising. |
I have a Garmin that goes between the car and boat. Garmins warranty is fantatsic. I had a rubber button pop off well out of warranty. Emailed garmin they gave me a repair price ($100.00ish ?) and a work order number. I sent it in for repair. 10 days later I received and up graded model and no bill. I contatced garmin said there must be a mistake. They advised they repaired it under warranty and opted to replace the unit.
The only other warranty service I have had that was near that good was Canon for their cameras. |
Any of the Nuvi's will work great for you. I got the 255W a year or so ago for around $130. All you get for more money is bells and whistles you probably won't use. Go to amazon.com and look up any of the Nuvi's. Scroll down and there will be a comparison chart showing the features for each one. What you are really interested in is what is the latest year's map that has been installed. Especially in places that have a lot of construction.

We have two Garmins, my favorite is our 1450LMT. The bigger 5" wide screen is easier to see, and has better colors and contrast. The traffic feature is something you don't think you'll use, but love it once you have it. It doesn't have Bluetooth or voice recognition, but has everything else. I think we paid $199 for it on a big sale.

BTW, some have lifetime maps (LM) and or lifetime traffic (LT or LMT)

Just went to Target to check some out. Kurt's right, it's bells and whistles, and just when I thought all I needed was turn by turn, one of them had bluetooth and you could connect it with your phone. That I liked a lot. I also liked the glass 5 inch screens and think they would work best in the E320. |

I've had 5 Garmin and it's the only way to go........Things like the 245 and 265 will work for most people, but I'm with our County Search and Rescue and we won't let volunteers go out into the woods with them....Many settings and features just aren't there....... |
new models are coming out in March/April. if I don't wait until then and get a older model on sale, I think this is the best solution for me:
Micro Center - Garmin nuvi 1490LMT GPS Navigator 010-00810-02 |
